I was never trying to convince Ouch.

I was only trying to give my own viewpoint for others who may read in the future.

Can you imagine if it was only Ouch speaking and no one arguing against him? Many many many MTs and student MTs read this board. I want all of them to hear my viewpoint, and all other viewpoints.

I wish Ouch had not erased his post because I think it deserves to be here. Along with my posts and everyone else's posts as well.

Just curious. This is a question for shivashiva and the 1 or 2 others who like to "put things into perspective" for the rest of us.

Has anyone responded to your "perspective" this way: "Now that you pointed it out, I am indeed [negative/paranoid/conducting my business poorly/etc]"?

I disagreed with Ouch on another thread, and although she didn't like it, I receiving a lot of PM's from other MassagePlanetL members thanking me for the post. Some of the thanks came from new therapists who were getting freaked out by Ouch's dire predictions. So, like Shivashiva, some of us post not to change a specific person's mind, but to lend balance to a discussion.

I have been a busy MT for 8 years and I have found that use of forearms and steady elbow work with the use of body weight takes the pressure off the wrists.
You do learn your limits and strengthen your upper-body with experience and you will always feel your wrists. You learn what to 'not do' that pushes the limits with clients. I had a co-worker brand new to massage (proud of her deep tissue) take up reflexology because she hurt her wrists so bad, so bad she had to wear a brace.

I would agree if Ouch was the only viewpoint presented. But it was only one of dozens, and the only negative view. And if your intention really is to provide an alternative viewpoint, then dont go after personality. Stick with how your experience is different.

I object to attacking the personalities of posters who dont agree with you. You put unnecessary guilt on young therapists who leave the biz. Many quit for good reasons. Some are unable to find ways to work that dont injure them. Many of us are positive and energetic and give it our all.

Ouch deleted his posts because he was painted as a defective person just because massage wasnt a good career choice for him. Same with blackswan. I see no reason to stay around just to be accused of infecting others with my negative attitude either.
