I admit, I'm terrible with money on hols, when I wake up next morning I've no clue where all the money went, but feeling my head banging I have a slight idea.

patong/pattaya: 3-4k seems to be a good night for me.
bkk: 5-6k when frequenting the go-gos
elsewhere in thailand: 3 leos at a farang bar, 300 st or 600 baht lt and 1 leo at the cathouse 600-800 bt for a good night out.

I agree with the guys who say about 5000 bhat a day is sufficient, my usual spending consisted of ;
molly malones for lunch and spending about 400,
hitting the beach - 100 for sunbed , 200 for drinks,
early evening drinks on bangla - 200,
dinner - 800,
beers plus lady drinks - 1500
bar fine - 400,
LT - 1000-1500

thats just an average , some days a day time massage with a happy ending may be thrown in for an extra 700 , and some days you drink alot more than others. 10,000 from the ATM every 2 days did the trick...

I agree with you Dan. I budget pretty much the same but always go over budget somehow. If I'm on tour with my son and his mates it's more difficult to stick to the budget because we end up with larger bar bills. Especially when they drag me off to Safari for a few hours of double vodka red bulls.
But we have a hell of a good time!

Welll i was in thailand for 10 days and found that 5k is enough for food, drinks and bg in bangkok and pattaya. however, i found that it takes about 6-7k in phuket.

I found i spent more money in my 5 days in Pattaya than i ever did in Patong, simply because of all the shows in the gogo bars, public forum here so wont go any further, but was around 6-8K a night rather than 4-5 in patong.

Just take all you can and enjoy it, you wont even be thinking of the money while you are there, (but you may when you come back and realise how much you spent).

I take as much as I can , spend different amounts on different nights , then when I get back to U.K work out the total I've spent and divide by number of days/nights...............then think "Fcuk it !!!!" , it's only money and book up for my next trip !!!!!:intello: :intello: :intello:

Fore me 5K should be plenty for a hole day and night. Spending 3k is a OK night out for me. But in case,have a few thousand in your room safe.
I have 10 trips to Thailand no, parhaps it`s therefore I don`t use more then this.
I don`t owerpay any more!

That's what happened in Pattaya this last trip - just decided fcuk it! and spent whatever. Including round trip air ticket Phuket / Pattaya, taxis etc, 170k for 15 days. That may or may not have included a few barfines, STs, LTs, massages and other things I couldn't possibly discuss on a fine, family-oriented forum such as this.

I like to take advaneforum.xxxe of my own "right frame of mind". If I am at a bar where they know me and I like the atmosphere and it is closing, but they are staying open ( still serving me) as long as I want them to be open....
I have no problem buying the staff drinks and treating/talking to the mamasan even though I am much to wasted to do anything about my drunken desires.
It is good face time with the people who can make your holiday better down the road. I am not a pushover with my money -in a sense. If I slip the non alcohol drinkers 100 baht {waitresses and bar backs that usually dont see gratituities} It also goes a long way !!!

I am not stupid about it but I am sometimes stupid while doing it.
Sometimes it comes back three times the money with the long term attention recieved and help offered, treats, some vague type of friendship.
Where else can you single handly keep a place open and all present at your disposal for several hours & laughing at the top of your lungs & smoking cigarettes(I am a nonsmoker) & doing shots & tasting everyones food that offers me a bite & surveying who I might want to drop the hammer on the next night. For 2000-3000 baht!
I will do it 1 or 2 times in the course of a 30 day holiday.

On the drunken walk back to my hotel I usually think "WTF was I doing" but when it comes down to it it is why I work.

Simply to have a good time.

And I do.

its hard to say how much to take out 1 night you might be the one buying drinks ringing the bell and the next night someone else might be(which i like better) but 4-5k baht a night usually worked for me if more was needed just ask a buddy and pay him back
