reflexology - talcs or oils?

Hi Matt,

I was taught to wipe the feet with an antiseptic and then dry them off before treatment.

But never to use any sort of cream or talc during the treatment as your fingers tend to slip over the skin and you can't get precision on the reflex points.

On dry feet I will use a hypoallergic unscented cream for the relaxing massage at the end.

Hi

I was taught to use talc, but now use a Lush non-talc powder called T For Toes - its wonderful, doesn't dry your fingers and not too slippery. Has lots of lovlies in it too - walnut leaf, tea tree, lime and horsetail herb.

To finish off, I use a blend that my wife makes for me in a lotion (she's an aromatherapist) of Spearmint, Bergamot and Myrrh... heavenly

And I was taught to use nothing on the feet, other than a starting wipe over with Witch Hazel.

Nothing at the end either.

However when training in VRT we were taught to use a small amount of hand cream (Vaseline Intensive Care or (as I use) Tesco's own brand which is none greasy and 'goes-in' very easily).

Not being an Aromatherapist I would not dream of using essential oils but might consider base oils except for their residual oilyness on the client's shoes and socks.
