No one mentioned tip. Do you need to pay tip when you pay at the service desk before you leave? How much? Was there pressure from the girl for you to give tip? If you offered money incentive for girl to go beyond, do you pay them at the front desk before you leave, included in the tip?

I want to get the tip question answer because in so many thread, posters would say "I bargain down to x amount of money", but they never mentioned whether tip was included. Another option is "Judy's" on Tongren Lu near Nanjing Lu. If you can't find your freebie in "Windows TOO" you can take a taxi to Judy's (next to Woodstock Bar). I've been to SH for years for business -- all i can say is it is far and away a better experience (and value) than anything in the US.

First, the girls there are way more attractive on the average than anything in the US. They are wholly interested in giving you a good time and love it if you return to them. And by this I am not talking about the typical local girl you may meet in a bar or karaoke place -- mainly escorts and MPs.

There are escorts but tend to be pricey -- and are outcalls mainly. These are difficult to hook up with. MPs are far more common and provide incall service at affordable prices with amazing service. So much so, going with escorts is hardly called for.

MPs are in generally two categories...local and business. The local ones tend to be a bit more working class but provide all basic service: BBBJ and GFE with finish. The business ones service salary guys in white collar jobs (and foreign businessmen) and are a bit cleaner and upscale looking...like a spa. They will provide more time, BBBJ, rimming, GFE, and pretty much whatever you want w/in reason. Time is less an element but if you are pushing close to the 2 hour mark they get nervous because they have schedules to keep. All the other staff are usually very professional and there is real protocol to ushering you in and out when you're done. If they've never seen you before or you came on your own the first time they tend to be more curious and will ask some questions...this is where speaking Chinese is essential. Without getting past these simple questions, they may refuse service. I've often asked many questions of the providers to get to know them -- most of their clientele are middle-class locals, Koreans, Japanese, Hua Qiao (overseas Chinese), and very few non-Asians.

MPs and escorts are available 24 hours a day. They are busiest during the weekday evenings. Daytimes any day is the slowest. At the business MPs, they will be cheaper by about 1/2 before 6pm. Keep this in mind if you find a girl and want to be sure you can always request her and have her be available.

Local MPs range from 400-650RMB while the business MPs start around 750RMB and may ascend to 1000RMB. The higher the price the better looking the girls tend to be...and consistently so. Still, the local ones have many cute and pretty women. The age ranges from mid 20s to ages that well, would not be legal...but the girls evade this by always claiming to be older -- but I always wonder about that.

For reference decent escorts my friends tell me, start around 1000RMB. There are cheaper ones but that is a hit and miss. I've usually stayed at 5-star hotels for my job and have often seen model material dressed up exiting the hotels by themselves around 2-3am...an obvious escort in my book.

Many of the cheaper places only speak Chinese and the more expensive ones infrequently speak anything but...that being said, speaking a little will get you through the door. They won't welcome you in otherwise and you're relegated to the so-called spas in the basement of the 3-4 star hotels that offer at best hand jobs.

Its difficult to list good places without people knowing Chinese. But most of the good ones are in Hong Qiao or Gu Bei. Incidentally this is where many Taiwanese live and in Gu Bei there is the Japanese Consulate and of course, many Japanese businesses.

Karaoke places are filled with beautiful women -- some are willing to negotiate to go home with you but their service is also hit and miss. The MPs offer consistently good looking women, they have their clean facility and private rooms (like bedrooms, some of them), have consistently pleasing service regiment, and are good value. Negotiating with girls on the fly from bars, the street, or karaoke places gets tiring and whatever is agreed upon in price does not always equate with service.

This activity is illegal and over the years some of my favorite places have been closed down and you lose track of your favorite providers which is a real shame. In a city like SH you'll never find them again even when you've built up a rapport with them. Sigh. But I think the authorities view is as a game and the practice continues. There are rarely raids and I believe that MPs and other locations move around periodically playing the game along with the police. They don't avertise and it is usually word of mouth. Usually places with bright neon advertising Spa or Massage are just that...spas and massage places...nothing more. The places I've been introduced to are usually down an alley off the main street and inside opens up into an impressively posh 'spa' with literally dozens of rooms on many floors. One place had anywhere from 50 girls on call at any given time...

I often feel it a shame about these girls in this field but when I speak to them they tell me of how much more (3-4x) they get than conventional jobs with their level (or lack) of education.They have aspirations and dreams and many achieve it when they get enough money from this line of work -- which says something. 99% of these girls come from outer, agrarian provinces. They're really nice -- make sure to treat them well, respect them.

This is my first post, and I wasn't sure if I was going to post at all, but I went and visited the Yu Ping Hotel today...and the experience was something that I think I should share with everyone on here.

I easily found the place by looking up the hotel on Google and printing off the Chinese address:

The lobby for the sauna is next to the hotel (not the main hotel entrance), and you walk up to the desk and someone will lead you into the spa from there. The first room is a change room where you change into a towel, and lock your belongings in a locker. You get a key on a bracelet and off you go. The next stop is the big "pool" room (I can't describe it any other way, it's like a palacial spa room). You shower and have the option of getting the scrub down. I didn't have time, so I declined and moved on to the lounge.

They sit you down and offer you something to drink while they go prepare the girls for you to look at.
