When the pandemic is over, all the countries will look at their debt and cost of the pandemic and have to figure out who is going to pay for it. China is in deflect and distract mode. There is new news that they may have hid from the world that the virus was out there and spreading not giving enough time to react. If this can be proven, then countries could band together in the WTO and penalize or sanction China. Just like how Germany finished paying for the World Wars only a few years ago. So, China is trying to keep that potential penalty low or avoid it all together. Countries will be invented to go after China to help keep their economic growth and power in check. China won’t pay for everything though as countries will have to take some of their own responsibility. Like the US might get some of the first shutdown cost recovered but nothing thereafter as it can be blamed on Trump’s ineptitude management.

My hunch is there are WTO hearings in 2021 and China will have to pay like $3-5 Trillion globally over the next 10-20 years or risk losing large countries as an export market and have companies from those countries pull manufacturing out of China. Japan is paying their companies to pull out but it’s only a small piece and you need the EU and America to follow to make a dent. It will likely require large investments in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia which also makes those militarized manmade islands in the middle of those countries shipping lanes so contentious.
