My frist day was with Musculoskeletal and with the best teacher I've had, bar-none. She was great!
Anyway, it was mandatory for us to take off our shoes when entering a carpeted classroom and we did so without a problem.
After all of the shop talk, we ventured into Kinesiology and after lunch went "hands on."
Pretty much, since half of us were new, we just did palming (you just press your palms down on whatever body part you are working on) excercises and she would walk around the class and talk to us newer students about our posture. It was a great way to start, good for us to get used to touching another body and to get a feel for what dosage (how much pressure) worked for the person.
After your first couple of days, it's a peice of cake to go handson. It never ever bothered me to have someone massage me because I'd been massaged before. Others, who had never been massaged would fidget or tighten up.
One of the best advice I can give someone thinking about massage school - get a massage, at least one, so that you have an idea how it all works.
I loved it though, it was very sad to leave school.
