The vaccine is not 100% effective, so you can still get covid, and no one knows what the long-term effects are.

Even if a hypothetical vaccine was 99.9% effective, that technically still means you could possibly get Covid, but if a vaccine has a generally high efficacy rate then your odds of getting Covid are massively lower, not to mention the effects of illness being tremendously reduced if you're one of the very unlucky few amongst the vaccinated who still manages to catch Covid.

We don't know what the long-term effects of Covid are either, but we do know the potential short term effects: death!

As for vaccines, 110 million and counting so far vaccinated in the US alone. Virtually no one is dying from the vaccine, unless Ursus or Bitchute are your primary sources of information... meanwhile about 3 million deaths and counting worldwide from Covid thus far....

On balance your risk of harm or death is orders of magnitudes lower by getting vaccinated rather than risking Covid. Even though statistically most of us would be very unlikely to die from Covid, regardless society is not going to fully reopen, and more importantly SPAS are not going to reopen, until the rate of hospitalization and death is significantly reduced for everyone in society. Think of how happy your SW will be if she knows you're protected.

So the sooner everyone can just man up and get a shot the better... for all these guys who always posture like they are so brave and fearless their paranoia about getting a needle is pretty amusing.

Well, I think it’s less an R&D issue and more a manufacturing capacity issue. We’re importing our vaccinations from countries that can take a “me first approach” where we have to wait.

The federal government is working on a deal with Novavax to produce their vaccine domestically by the fall when it’s ready. It’s an interesting development but not fast enough.

A better and longer term solution might be to have a federally owned vaccine manufacturing facility that is vaccine agnostic. The facility can then license the formulas from any or many pharma companies at a time and then manufacture in Canada. They could even manufacture multiple vaccines at the same time if capacity and raw material supply permits. Once Canada is completed it’s vaccinations then that is more manufacturing capacity to support the rest of the world’s vaccination supply needs. This model could be copied and used in all developed economies for the next pandemic so they can get around supply chain issues.

What I'd like to know is what's the hold up? I read that Ontario is vaccinating 70k per day. that is so slow. In Florida they were able to vaccinate 1.5 million at just one grocery chain. Are we low on supply is it just good ol fashioned government organization skills?

I actually looked at the article you linked to. At best it is a lot of speculation from a former vp of Pfizer with zero evidence. He starts with a somewhat credible speculation that drug companies are trying to rip off the world by providing vaccines that do work, but who are recommending many more doses than required in order to make a ton of dough. Then he spins off into wilder conspiracy theories without evidence, sources and outside of his personal experience working at Pfizer. You can find a debunk here: Reuters article about Dr Michael Yeadon. Dr. Yeadon worked for Pfizer before starting his own biotech company which he sold to Novartis for $325 million. He is a smart guy with a oodles of cash and a lot of free time who is likely having some fun and getting some attention.

It's your body, your choice so arguing over the efficacy and safety (or lack thereof) is pointless. I've heard both sides of the argument and they're all valid. I have the luxury of being the last in line to take it so I have all the time in the world to weigh the pros and cons.

Right now, I'm leaning towards taking it. Maybe it'll kill me. Maybe it won't. I've already lost over a year of my life and watched people I care about lose so much more. If the vaccine kills me, all it really would've done is put me out of my misery. If it doesn't, all the much better because I'm not doing this out of fear of the virus or to save other lives. I'm doing it for the same reason another member on this forum said he did it for and that's quality of life. Getting back to normal and living in a fully functional society is my only incentive and hopefully the risk of inoculation ends up being the ticket to freedom.
