Thanks Lynn, That was the explanation i was looking for to my original ? Your first long thread explained it all. I thought that was a wonderful read and insight to part of your world. I thank you for sharing that info with us, cause we like to know as well what goes on in your minds also. It's not always about the happy ending, but what's behind those eyes of the girls we see.

MPA2, I wish you hadn't edited your post. These guys deserved to be snapped on. Here you are, sharing with honesty about who you are and how you feel in a relationship and these guys jumped on you. What's that all about? What's it to them? I don't understand.

One of my ex-boyfriends came in to see me at work long-ago.

He came in under the guise of it being "hot".

He was there to check things out/ make sure I was safe/ understand where I was working a little better. Yeah - at the time it was nice... but you know what happened?

When my ex was walking out, a client walked in the door.... And that image was etched into his mind. Months later... even years later.... he would tell me how he couldn't stop picturing that middle-aged man who he saw at the door, with his hands all-over me.

I watched what me working did to that one ex-bf in particular; it tore him apart.... And I guess at the end of the day, he loved me.... I really can't imagine that any guy who cared-deeply for me would not be affected by seeing me at work.

With women, the emotional goes way before the physical in order to perform sexual acts. With guys its the opposite. we are wired to almost never need emotion at all in order to engage in sexual activity. Thats the mad science of nature and it seems to have worked out well thus far (considering how long we as humans have lasted on this planet).

But its probably the same way most women dont understand how men can just have sex and it may mean absolutely nothing to them emotionally. Thats our little "switch"

I read a news blurb a few months ago that basically concluded that women are biologically incapable of having sex without feeling some sort of attatchment. It basically kills the notion that "fuck friend" relationships can truly be just sexual for both parties.

I'm paraphrasing but apparently women release a hormone that creates feelings of attatchment for their partner when engaged in sexual activities. Men do not.

So I questioned myself.... Every sexual encounter I've had outside of work has created a certain type of feeling within me. I may not have wanted to have anything to do with the guy afterwards yet... I felt/feel something for them; warmth (?)

Yet at work - I can go about things feeling a certain detatchment (that switch thingy...) Maybe this is how men always feel? lol I dunno...


The fact that men can be turned-on without feeling attatchment was always a key topic in the endless conversations I had with that one ex. I couldn't explain how work was different for me/ he couldn't understand how it could possibly be.

And to complicate things further....

I may very-well have quashed a few hopes in my first post on here by describing how I compartmentalize work vs. real life but...

As much as I detatch myself and would not date a client, I am still able to feel something for men I meet as clients.

And (undeniably), many clients develop feelings of attatchment towards providers.

Infact, I feel it's necessary to have some sort of an emotional bond between client and provider to have a good session; especially when it comes to repeat/"regular" client/MPA relationships. A great personality is usually one of the most prized attributes of a successful attendant and of a well-liked client.

I'm happy when I see a face that I haven't seen in awhile when I walk into the room; and it's not about the money. A few weeks ago I told one of my long-standing regular clients that he's like oatmeal to me. (yeah - he likely thinks I'm a weirdo... whateva hehe)

Aaaaand... I've said it before and I will say it again. No one can convince me that the sole reason why men pay for sexual services is to "get off"....

I'm running around in circles, complicating things and contradicting myself....

I suppose things aren't always black and white....

OMG. Some of the posts on this thread sound so much like religious fundamentalists that it's scary. Haven't we learned through the painful lessons of history that the morality of one people is not the same as other people's. And humanity is too complex to be force fed into a one size fit all model. Yet somehow people feel compelled to judge and impose their version on others. Therein lies the roots of most human strife. Too much harm have been done to humanity throughout history in the name of morality or in the name of the Father.

By what natural law that seeking pleasure through sex is shameful and guilty? By what natural law that providing sexual pleasure for remuneration is shameful and guilty and that it is an inferior way of making a living than prostituting our will and soul in the office being mind/ass-fucked by our incompetent and browbeating bosses?

I would figure you would want to know what someone actually thinks, feels, and does as opposed to one's potential to think, feel, or do. What someone did in the past isn't necessarily what someone will do in the present or future. Live and learn right? And we all have potential to think, feel, and do all those things you have mentioned.

I don't care if you don't want to date me because I worked in a massage parlour. But don't you dare say that I am incable of knowing right from wrong. You actively seek me out and pay me for my time so who are you to judge me?



I made a decision when I was 23 years old and really damn sheltered. I had recently quit my new job and I was actively hunting for a replacement. I just had started university and my finances were very limited. A month-prior I was getting job offers left and right; I turned them all down for the one that didn't work out. Now - when I was re-applying, I couldn't find a thing.

I was broke - my rent was over-due, my hydro was close to getting cut. I was desperate. Someone had jokingly suggested I should be a waitress in a strip club. Hmmm. I had never been to a strip club- I was totally uncomfortable with the thought of it but one day for fun I googled Ontario strip clubs to see where they were located. I came across massageplanet.net.

Whoa. I started reading. It fascinated me that all these people posted about the different segments of the sex-industry with no shame and no judgement. It seemed so normal despite how absolutely abnormal it was to me.

I had seen one naked man in my entire life. I was a good girl who believed I was going to marry the guy I had lost my virginity to.

There were all these threads about money. "How much do MPAs earn?", "Lap dances cost $20 for 3 minutes", "I paid $350 for an hour with a hot escort". Whoa these girls make a lot of money.... and I was so broke.

I looked at the different sections - massage seemed the least scary (and there were some funny posters in that section).

I logged onto the chatroom. I introduced myself and stated my interest in becomming an MPA. They were nice to me on there- actually welcoming -they gave me some advice. Then a man sent me a private message telling me that he could show me the ropes of massage if I was interested.

Was I interested? Damn... I didn't know if I could. The thought was so scary and I loved my boyfriend so much. I wrestled with the idea. The man offered me $250 for two hours. He said we would chat a bit then I could give him a massage and he would give me a massage. He seemed very nice - he sent me a picture and his full name and the website for the company that he owned.

So... I agreed to meet with him. Utterly naive, inexperienced me met up with this man at hotel. I chatted with him then basically gave him a nude reverse. He gave me $400. He treated me with absolute kindness; (thank God).

I will never forget how I felt when I walked home. I expected to feel different.... dirty.... shameful.... something.... But I didn't. I was the same old me with $400 in my purse.

He wrote a review about me and gave out my contact email. Clients were interested in booking me. Spa managers were interested in recruiting me. I started going into the chatroom regularly here and a lot of people seemed to like me. If I wanted a job - I had it.

I started to realize that I could make a whole lot of money. I moved out of my family's house when I was still in highschool. I had struggled financially. I have been to a food bank because despite working two jobs while in highschool, my bus pass, rent, and phone bill pretty much ate up my earnings. After highschool I began working full-time and my financial situation was manageable but it was never easy. I wanted to finish university. Massaging could give me the flexibility that I needed and it could help me avoid OSAP. I wanted to help my boyfriend financially so he could go back to school like he had dreamed about. I wanted to bring something to the table in our relationship. I didn't want to fight about money the way my parents did when I was a kid.

So I started working at a massage parlour.

I started working in a job that wasn't nearly as scary as what society previously told me it was. Infact - after seeing what this "scary" world actually entailed, I realized that there are a lot of good people (clients and providers) involved. Not everyone was nice. Some girls were mean to me because I was busier than them. Some clients were aggressive with me.... But on the whole... the people were pretty-normal.

Clients tended to flock to me despite my inexperience. Constant compliments on my mind and my personality. They liked me.... as out of place as I was. I treated my clients as best as I could - I started to realize that I was giving many of those clients something that they needed in their lives.

From day one, I have had a soft-spot for clients that I could sense desperately needed affection. Some of these clients may have been treated poorly by the other girls...because of something about their appearance or their demeanor that others didn't have patience for. I tried ten times harder because I knew that they more than likely lacked touch and warmth in their lives. I felt like I was doing something good - I was helping.

I still feel that way.

Was I lacking in the ability to differentiate between right and wrong? I was a kid making a decision based on the fact that I did not feel badly about what I was doing after honestly questioning myself repeatedly if I was really okay with it. Did I lack moral compass? Are you honestly going to judge me based on your drunken conversations with a few strippers that fit the ugly, inaccurate stereotype of a typical "industry girl"?

Please don't. Because the same stereotypes could be placed on you.
... But I'm smart-enough to know how inaccurate the "John" stereotype is.

Although I do not you usually post on massageplanet.net, simply because I feel I don't usually have much added value to give. After reading this thread, and what Lynn most recently posted, I feel that she has touched upon something. The need for affection. I think this is a large reason why men hobby. Yes there are the stereotypical hobbist that are out there to just see what they can get. Just like there are the providers that are out to see what they can get out of a client. However, I believe that the need for affection is a large factor in why we hobby. I am not speaking for everyone, but I bet it is true in most cases. Personally, yes I do enjoy a session with an MPA when she applies some personality and affection to the session. That is not say that I instantaneously become head over heels for her. I have learned that most times, having a true "relationship" with an MPA is not in the cards. Not to say it is unheard of, just difficult. Mostly due to the fact that, I had met them in this environment first, as opposed to elsewhere.
I have had the debate many times with MPA's, that I have gotten to know, about there views on dating a client. I have always expressed and truly believe, that if someone loves you, they also trust you. They trust you enough that you are being faithful to them, even in this line of business. I also believe that is a two way street. I, for one, made up my mind a long time ago that, as long as I remained single, it was "ok" to hobby. As soon as I was in a relationship, even if it was only a potential one, I would refrain from hobbying. This is a rule that I have always stood by. I think it is the same from a MPA's point of view (not to speak for Lynn or anyone else), in that they have rules and morale's that they believe in and stick to. Everyone's are different, but as long as they stick to them, how can anyone judge.

That need for affection is something that everyone has. If you are in a relationship, and are able to receive (and give) that affection, great. However, for those of us that are not able to get the affection that we desire, I believe that hobbying helps to full fill that need. That to me, is something that no one can judge a person on. The need for affection is a human need. Everyone has it, we just seek it out in different ways.
