I asked “why are we moving the goal posts?”, not you. I was talking about the overall narrative.
While I wouldn’t allow my parents to be unvaccinated, I don’t believe everyone needs to be. I’m comparing percentages of hospitalizations and ICUs because those are the numbers that are being used to impose mandates and lockdowns on us. Until we’re using different numbers, I’ll continue to look at them.
As for the seatbelt analogy, the seatbelt and vaccine, by definition, have different functions. A seatbelt’s purpose is to minimize injury/death. A “vaccine’s purpose is to produce immunity to a specific disease”, not minimize symptoms/hospitalization/death. That’s what medicine does. The current Covid vaccines have failed, but they do kinda jive with the CDCs new definition “to produce protection to a specific disease”.
