I didn't make it to wangjing but spent time with someone else, trip into beijing city then dinner and my place for the night - a long time g/f .

I travelled along chaoyang lu and saw (or rather did not see) not one bbs remaining open inside the third ring road area and until past the fifth ring road only two sauna style places remain (I don't know if those places are legit or p4p). Also a lot of the old shops have been demolished and, as these are also the usual places for bbs, there are fewer places for the girls to set up later.

Between demolition and an apparent crackdown bbs there seems to be fewer bbs inside the fourth ring road, I have not been down the lanes for a few weeks but maybe some places remain open. Either I was lucky or things are not as dead as it seems.

I had company every night by just walking out of hotel in front of HRC. BTW the HRC is open for the gift shop and when I went inside they were renovating.

There is a lot of anti-western comment in the government controlled media and some chinese friends have even told me to stay indoors because chinese television is reporting that the west has attacked china.

Just another day at the office as during the 1967 6 day war I had first hand experience and in aden in 1966 and some other areas since but it is interesting to see the non-reporting of the attacks by chinese on foreigners (e.g. Sebastian Coe) and the playing up of what, by western standards, was a quiet demonstration.

Be extra aware of personal security it only takes one hot head in a crowd to lead to a riot or attack on a foreigner.
