Hi

I happen to have an old washing powder container from the wholesaler that I use for soaking towels in (this particular one is tall and I can get 2 thick bath sheets in at the same time). I use an old plate to weigh the towels down. Getting them in to the washing machine afterwards can be a bit messy.

Did any of these solutions work for you? I am having the same problem - I can't see soaking the towels as a viable solution as this would be impossible to do on a daily basis!

I have been told that if you place some brown paper (like the chip shop ones) under and over your towels (and another sheet or something over that again) and iron them then the grease should be removed out and onto the paper.. haven't tried myself yet but it's worth a shot.

yes - soaking them has helped quite a lot and now I add vanish and use the pre soak cycle on my new towels which seems to do the trick

re the paper trick - that is a good one but not for this problem as it was the smell that was the problem

Hi all this is my first post! My tutor said to us to use washing liquid on the oil stain itself before washing to break it down then wash it as the washing process can cook the oil into the fabric especially on a wash above 40, and she also suggested to soak the towels in Napisan as its Germicidal and a great stain remover.
I got hair dye on one of my white tunics (don't ask!!) and I tried all sorts to remove it and it was still there so I gave this a go and soaked it for 2 days and it has now totally gone.

You can use it to soak your bits and also add 2 tablespoons to your wash.
I found the napisan in wilkinsons in the baby section, for those of you who can remember terrys nappies this is what they used to soak them in.

To soak my towels I bought a big bucket thing from B&Q which holds about 4-5 bath sheets at a time. I hope this helps

Hi there

Occasionally I get oil stains on one of my lilac 'show' tunics (I'm a messy devil) and it leaves a pale black (yes, I know pale black is grey but it still looks like pale black to me) and I use Clean Again which I got via the internet. I think you can get it from massagetablestore.com. Not cheap, but it really does get the stains and smells out.

Maybe worth a go.
