I am not trying to generalize, but this reminded me of the following
Years ago I had a friend in the industry (MPA and SCs). Besides the fact that her 'looks' were starting to wane (her words, not mine), she worked in places where the mileage was 'high'. One day we were talking about our lives and she began to tell me about how hard her job was. She mentioned many things from the above quote and complained away. However, when she insinuated that her job was 'much harder' than mine, I stepped in. I'm not one to compare 'job-difficulties' (I understand what the ladies must put into their jobs, as well as respecting those who do 'undesirable jobs'; keep in mind that there are many requirements for any job), but the fact that she was complaining about 'doing laundry' while making the coin she made, while I made 1/3 of the coin over much longer hours; meant a reality check was needed. She got herself into the industry, and if she wanted out, there was a world full of minimum wage jobs waiting for her (I'm not trying to be mean, but we had previously discussed what she may be able to do besides her current jobs and she admitted that she had 'few other choices'). So, in short, if MPAs complain about the above mentioned requirements of work, then the lowest paying job wouldn't even take them. Ask the MPAs on the board, I'm sure they'll agree.
Exactly. Anyone who expects less is kidding themselves.
