According to one Sauna Xiaojie, there are police from Beijing in Shanghai and there are many saunas temporarily closed. 999 will open up again on Tuesday (12/28). They are using the downtime to do some renovations.

The place I did go today (that was open) was not allowing their girls to undress. However, given that I was a waiguoren, the girl was told she could do an abbreviated service with me which included full nudity and the normal routine.

I try and avoid approaching a monger situation like this. In fact, contrary to many a monger's advice and preferences, I seldom talk about money with the girl before I take her out. Mind you this is in places like PI and Indo where I am much more experienced so i'm less concerned about getting shafted later on. I'm also quite selective of the girl I take, and tend to steer clear of hardened, aggressive pros. I'll be researching more before I go however.

Yes, you are right, girls are dressed in a much more appealing fashion but it is too hot to go outside at 35 to 40 degree that feel like 47. Winter is also not too nice either because it is very humid and cold. I refer more to the times inbetween = autumn and spring which are the best month for Shanghai..... However, in the bar it does not matter anyway...

Bar Rouge is an upscale bar/lounge/dance club on The Bund with an outside patio that has a stunning view of Lujiazui.

The clientele is mixed...a bit of the young & beautiful crowd (men and women) who generally have little intention of dabbling in any sort of p4p activities. Add to this a good helping of lurking middle-aged men from all corners of the globe who're on the prowl for the ladies. And finally, liberally sprinkled into this mix are a good number of girls who're game to make some money on the side.

But don't be fooled into thinking that just because you're in a higher-class place that the quality of the girls is any better. You'll see exactly the same girls who're plying their trade in Bar Rouge hanging around later in Manhattan. I know this for an absolute fact. The only real difference is that these girls will try (and often succeed at) extracting more $$ from their patrons at Bar Rouge.

Does it matter that you're young, white, and reasonably stylish and does that help in ensuring a GFE? Well, every situation and encounter is different...chemistry and all that...I guess I'd say that maybe it helps a bit, but not nearly as much as finding a girl that you click with a bit rather than "Hey, how much? OK, let's go." This is the way with every mongering encounter though, am I right? Sometimes even the best interview results in a disappointing lay...

Thanks mate. I certainly wouldnt believe 999 was the be all and end all of Shang, given China's population. I quite fancy high end girls, as i'm fairly young myself and like to aim high if I am going to another country looking for girls. I'd really like a tall China doll, like some of those 141 girls. There's some stunners on that website, but I prefer more of a GFE if its available as opposed to a 45 minute session with no romance.

As far as Bar Rouge etc go, if you're a young white guy and reasonably stylish and good looking, what are the chances of getting a good GFE if you take out from these places? I know some basic Mandarin, but would polish up on some more once the trip there was pencilled in.

There are many bars like "Manhattan" or "Malone's" in Shanghai. You can meet the girl there and chat and if you like her (and she likes you) arrange your deal and take here to the hotel just like you fancy. I think the selection is very large here.... If you prefer high end girls and accept higher price, you could also go to Bar rouge or Glamour Bar or Park 97....

Shanghai is surely a place to enjoy, specially now that the summer is nearly over....

Fuck. I was just sifting through this thread and was starting to gear up for a trip to Shang and then I read this! Do they have legalised brothels in China or is any kind of prostitution illegal?

China girls are some of the nicest around and what the country needs is a city with a few dozen go-go bars like Patts or AC. I much prefer meeting a girl in a bar and taking her back to the hotel for the night as opposed to quick transactions with SWs or in brothels.

I might have to redirect my itinerary to Hong Kong and hit some of those 141 girls but thats kind of contrary to my preferences. I'll continue to probe through these threads, but it seems that 999 and G18 are, or were, opening and closing randomly for unspecified periods so it would be a gamble to book a side trip on the assumption that these places are in full swing when in fact, its hit or miss.

There must be other places around in the city where 141 quality can be found. If i'm going to travel for a China doll, I need to make it worth my while.

FlukyLuke, the "national treasure" is gone. Not only is 999 locked up but all the signage has been torn off the building. It's not coming back...at least not under the prior management. 999 was only one block away from a relatively large police station...which may or may not have been a factor.

I laid a wreath of flowers by the front door. I had been to this place many times...it was my second home.
