Five women have been charged with prostitution following a sting operation and investigation involving massage businesses in LaPorte County.
The sting operation was called “Operation Heavenly Hands” and involved the Michigan City and Trail Creek Police, along with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.
Someone initially reported to Michigan City Police that a massage business was offering extra services for a fee, leading law enforcement to begin the operation. It was also discovered that the businesses were advertising the extra services online.
Officers went to multiple businesses undercover, and they confirmed that prostitution was taking place.
One of the women is charged with felony prostitution for being the alleged operator, while the others are charged with misdemeanors.
Police say the women are being offered victim services and note that “individuals involved in these businesses may be victims of exploitation.”
