You guys are throwing around the word "proportionate", but I'm not sure you're thinking correctly in terms of proportionate to what. Looking at the proportion of ICU patients that are vaccinated or unvaccinated tells you nothing about how the vaccine is working. Absolutely nothing.

The thing is, vaccine is like insurance, it is better to have it and not need it; rather than need it and not have it. If you are a total anti vaxxer then that is your right too, but then stay the fuck home so other people don't get exposed to your virus load sprayed with each breath. That is the common courtesy decent thing to do, and wear a mask when you are in public places too.

Allow me to repeat one more time. Transmission rates are similar for both vaxxed and unvaxxed, as is the viral load. The vaxxed enjoy no advantage and are just as likely to spread the virus. Just check out present-day stats which make it clear it's the vaxxed who are doing most of the spreading.

Your mom and dad can live together and one can get COVID but not the other because of everyone's immune system being different. Vaccine or not. Your immune system is different from another person's.

Let me put it in a way you can understand, if you and your friend both BBFS the same girl, he gets herpes but you don't. Same exposure, different immune systems. There is no logic or reason for this, at lease none that scientists have offered us. So we are required to adopt "blanket" approaches like vaccination that "may" work for everyone.

You are right, it doesn't work the same for everyone, just like not everyone gets infected by the same virus subjected to the same exposure.

I agree with you except for 2 things. First, all data shows both vaccinated and unvaccinated carry and spread the same viral load. Second, medicine isn’t one size fits all. So by your logic we shouldn’t be all receiving the same dose, or any dose at all.

I’m not an anti vaxxer. Just not sold on this one, and I’ve had Covid, so I’m good.

Very true, but would you agree when/if we hit 85% vaccinated ICU patients, that will be proportional to the 85% of the vaccinated population?

How much of a viral load a person carries is absolutely irrelevant for measuring effectiveness of the vaccine. Me, you and a door handle have the potential of carrying the same amount of viruses in our hands (surface for the doorhandle). Getting a vaccine does not reduce your physical capacity to carry the virus in any part of your body. Does this make sense to you?

The vaccine will not make you a "virus proof" flesh container of organs and fluids that is your body. You are not "teffloning" yourself to make all viruses slip right off you.

Does this logic make sense?

Yes, we were told if we get vaccinated we wouldn’t get infected. Lets not rewrite history.

I’m glad we agree that we all carry the same viral load. Why do you suggest unvaxxed should stay home then?

You could have 100% of patients in the ICU be vaccinated and it still wouldn't say anything about the efficacy of the vaccine. You understand that right? As I said earlier, compare like numbers of vaccinated and unvaccinated, that's the only way to measure this.

Transmission, is a whole other issue and I have not read anything that persuades me one way or the other about relative risks between the vaccinated and unvaccinated. My mind is open on that.

Because of the carefree and careless attitudes towards the sensitivities of others, and because if you are unvaxxed you have zero defenses against the virus and therefore you could be MORE LIKELY to carry it an not know you have it.

Like I said, insurance, would you feel safe knowing that uninsured drivers are on the same road as you everyday? WHY?

Everything you said can be applied to vaccinated people. They could be carrying it and not know it either.

If you want me to stay home for your sensitivities, that’s a you problem.

We’ve had tens of thousands of cases every day in Ontario for the last 2 weeks. It made headlines every day. Vaxxed and unvaxxed are getting infected equally. The vax has no efficacy against omicron, and waning efficacy on delta.

If 100% of ICU patients were vaccinated, we would definitively know the vaccines’ efficacy. One might even argue it’s better to be unvaccinated.

Im pretty sure nobody with half a brain believed the vaccine was 100% effective against catching or spreading covid.

I got my 2nd shot in October to be able to travel and I just had covid last week, which was nothing more than a mild cold for me. I won’t be getting any boosters.
