Youtube
Oy - I worry that Youtube will bring about an early death of decent hands-on continuing education. So many CE providers are now scrambling to offer online videos, webinars, distance learning courses... all kinds of ways to learn that are anything EXCEPT hands-on. Yet hands-on is how we practice, and should remain a core aspect of our ongoing development.
It's more profitable to provide online and distance learning classes, but the quality of the learning experience must be somewhat sacrified to accommodate convenience. Free videos on Youtube (and elsewhere) are good marketing tools, but they are not responsive to the learner and do not get updated the way live classes are. We can already see tons of painfully out-of-date videos on massage theory/technique that would be best removed from the public domain. If bodyworkers increasingly rely upon digital media as a primary source of instruction, we will need to become increasingly vigilant about what it is we are viewing.
