Which is your favourite essential oil? Why? What do you use it for?

Is there an oil you dislike and can't bear the smell of?

My all time favourite has to be Lavendar, it is so calming and really helps in nearly every situation...!!

Picking ONE favourite is really tough! I love lemon and benzoin (together or separate) and rose too.

I have several that make me feel very sick and anxious - geranium, patchouli and palma rosa. Ewwwwwww!

@Urban ... Why dont you try mixing a little lavenndar in it.. I guess you may start to like rose Its not that bad Although even I am not such a big fan of rose oil but mixed with some other flavour gives a good result

I cant stand the smell of ylang ylang. It really does make me feel sick, so I try and avoid using it. Also it gives me an instant headache.
Its a shame because it has good qualities.

I really like lime, roman chamomile, sandalwood and rose.

I love woody scents best, also citrus. Anything too overpowering or floral like geranium has to be in very small doses for me!

My favourite is patchouli (natch) I also like geranium, most citrus, sandalwood, benzoin (yummy), may chang, neroli, rose.

Really do not like Jasmine, German Chamomile (despite its properties), ylang ylang, tea tree (overrated imo, all down to good marketing) and not particularly fond of lavender either.

Probably a lot more but thats what comes to mind atm.

Ylang ylang is one of my favourite smells, it also reminds me of the scent of tiger lily flowers, they are my favourites too, it can be a it sickly if in excess. I love the woodies, cedarwood and sandalwood. Geranium makes me sneeze. I really don't like lemongrass at all.

my favourite is may chang as it is so sweet and uplifting - though lemon is also a big favourite.

I really dislike the smell of lavendar thoguh have to use it all the time for the clients benefits

love palmarosa - one of my case studies thought it smelt like coffee but couldnt see it myself

love rose, geranium and lavender

current fav blend - tagets, linden blossom and grapefruit (smells like lemon sherbert, absolutly yummy)

This is so impossible to do - obviously as an aromatherapist I create synergies with blends that are an aroma unto themselves. If I had only 5 oils they would have to be lavender, geranium, rose otto, neroli, and sandalwood or frankincense (see I'm already stretching the five oils to six)

The one oil I could not be without is lavender - though my first ever choice when I had my first aromatherapy was Geranium back in 1985.

Orange is nice too, and lemon....ohhhhhhhhhh there are so many how can we choose only one!

Yes, I think ylangylang and german chamomile are like that too.
