yesterday, DH came home from work with a killer headache - very unusual for him. he described his pain and i took a look at my trigger point work book and he got on the table. i worked the muscles based on the charts - tension everywhere i touched. i found two large and very painful trigger points and i iced them so he could tolerate the work - i could barely touch them otherwise. i worked very slowly and made a pretty good dent in them. after i felt like i did all i could in the target areas, i worked on the rest of his back just because he was so tight. when he got up from the table, he sat on the couch and had a glass of water and waited. his head felt better than it did before the massage, but still hurt some and he had an all over feeling of ickyness.
20 - 30 minutes later he walked into the room i was in and said "you fixed me! i feel 100% better! no trace of a headache, no ickyness anywhere. thanks, hun. that was awesome!!"
i can't describe how happy that made me. it was the first time i've worked on someone and made that big of an impact without supervision and guidance. it felt really satisfying!
