Will Massage help with numbness

hi, will massage be able to get rid of all numbness and tingling sensations in the body, plus for stress and anxiety. The doc just puts it all down to stress and tells me to relax and read a book or something. if so which sort of massage or treatment would any1 reccomend ?.

Hi speedz
if you are not used to massage Isugguest you should try some light pressure massage first (aromatherapy) andif this works listen to your body and if you finnish a treatment wishing the therapist hadused deeper pressure thenchange to swedish then sports or deep tissuemassage.
If the numbness persists see an osteopath.

Hi Speedz,
if i were you i would get a second opinion, as numbness and tingling can by symptoms of a more serious problem, which will be contraindicated to massage.

Thanks for your replys.
Just been for aromatherapy appointment, when the therapist worked on me the therapist asked if I suffered from tingling sensations or numbness down my arms or my fingers.
I was pretty shocked thatthe therapistknew, as I had not mentioned it, I forgot to mentionabout the tingling and numbness,as I suffer pannic attacks, stress and anxiety.
I was nervous of my first appointment, thought it would take place in a proper massage parlour as I got the phone number from the yellow pages.
It took place in a private house.

Also the therapist only massaged my back, back of head and my shoulders.
It lasted for one and a half hours, I thought they would massage more.
Means the therapist got me to undress apart from my boxers and socks,
might aswell of left my trousers on.
Is this because its my first appointment, as I would feel awkward asking the therapist.
I do not feel very differrant at moment, maybe after a few more sessions.

doesn't sound like your first experience of massage was a great one however.... can you book in to a clinic near you that can offer everything from masssage to osteopathy that way if the massage doesn't get you the results you require you can try someone else and its all in house with possibly a referal system in place ? start by chatting to the clinic manager or senior therapist.
