Why is proper draping important?

Ok. I admit. The subject was kinda a hook but anyway, so the class I'm in got to be guneia pigs and get massages from students entering clinic. I had a female theripist and she ws pretty good for how long she has been in school. but her leg draping was very poor. she lifted my leg WAY too high and it sounded like she might have saw somthing she shouldent have. LOL Normally I would be imbarassed by something like this but really, I think its funny, because if she cant drape properly by now then... well :roll: lol. I really dont know waht the point of this was just wanted to share.

I have had the same experience with other students also. They are on the cusp of graduating, have almost or already have completed clinic, but draping in class doesn't seem to cross their minds, which seems very odd to me, but it is comical some times! :shock: Rest assured they'll get it right! 8)

Tuck and Flip

In school we were taught proper draping (picking up the leg and pulling the sheet under) one of my instructors also taught us what he called the "tuck and flip". I often use this on my clients because there's not really a risk of exposing them. I also use this on my bigger clients because it's a lot easier on me.

i've always wondered why therapists lift the leg to drape. i don't do it and i hate it when a therapist does it to me. why do you have to lift the leg to drape the sheet properly? also, i am so amazed at the number of therapists who are out there working and have NO IDEA how to drape!
