Which massage oil / lotion?

Hi all,

I absolutely love receiving massage and religiously have a massage every 2 weeks or so. I've had many massages from all over the world. Some excellent, some terrible, but most somewhere in between. However what I find most irritating is that in most cases the massage oil gets on my clothes which after a while goes putrid and starts to really smells bad - I've ruined a lot of good suits! I had a massage recently where the oil / lotion was fantastic and was completely absorbed into the skin and didn't leave any oiliness. It could have been a water based massage lotion but I wasn't sure.

So the questions are,

1) Do any of you professional massage guys use water based massage lotions?

2) Can you recommend a good non-sticky / non-oily massage lotion that I could buy?

3) How would you feel if a client bought along their own massage oil / lotion - would you use it / would you be offended ??

I might have a go with a lotion which a client brought with them. Interesting way to try new stuff. I often ask friends I swop with to use try out my lotion when treating me as I like the feel of it and I know it leaves no residue.
The best lotion I have used so far and use religiously is Naqi Ultra which you can get from Mobilis. It works well and really soaks in leaving no residue whatsoever, great for people going back to work after a treatment. I go through loads of it as it soaks in a bit too well.

Might've been jojoba. Jojoba is a plant wax rather than an oil, so it doesn't go rancid like an oil. It's almost the same composition as the skin's own sebum, so it very readily absorbed, and any that does get on your clothes washes out very easily compared to oil. Normal laundry detergents just think it is sebum which they are designed to clean up.

I'm a bit on the oil phobic side, and I have taken jojoba with me sometimes (usually when I've gone back to someone after not liking their oil the first time) No-one has refused to use it, but I'm sure a few have been a bit put out by it, but I'm the one paying. I mainly use jojoba on clients, better for them and easier laundry for me

I use Massage wax which I make myself. Its a combination of beeswax and various oils. The texture is quite stiff so is excellent for deep tissue work as it really allows you to apply as much pressure as needed without fear of slipping - as can be the danger with most oils and some lotions. It also sinks into the skin with no oily residue to stain clothes. My clients love it as they can go straight back to work!

I believe you can get something similar, called 'tui', from songbird naturals.

Solid coconut oil is also very good.
