Which day is a good day for massage?

I'm wondering if the day of week has an effect on how busy one is. I work at a health club on thursdays and find that business is rather slow compared to what other therapists seem to do on other days.

I know if someone is in real need of a massage, then they need a massage...and day of the week doesn't matter at all!

This is just a question that I have been pondering on for some time now. The person I took over from found Thursday to be very quiet, hence her departure. I thought I would give it a go, try to make it work, but find it soul destroying sometimes when I have one or no bookings and still have to pay to rent!

Just wondering if the day of the week does matter, or if its just a case of more marketing, and time to let the business grow.

I think there might have been a previous thread on this one, might be worth a serach.

Personally a massage is lovely at the end of a working week such as a Friday or Saturday and also at the start of a new week on a Monday but depends on the client. If they are in dire need of a massage the any day you have free may suit them. Perhaps a Thursday it might be a pay day, a day to get the weekly shopping done, household chores etc before the weekend, Its a day to those those things for me! Do you advertise at the moment, could you perhaps do a "special offer" for Thursdays to get your client list going? Might also be worth a look on the Business & Marketing Forum for some ideas.

I think it might be rthe fact that you are working in a gym. When i used to be a fitness fanatic i used to do a lot from monday to wednesday and then more swimming and hockey the rest of the week, so the only time i would of gone to the gym would have been the beginning of the week. The problem with this is that most people who are looking for relaxation massage want it towards the end of the week..usually friday saturday of late evening. Could you not offer sports therapy or deep tissue/remedial massage as then you will appeal to people who need specific massage and not just a pamper and these types of people will come for a massage anytime, because they need it to get back into their training.

Thanks for the repies.

Nisha, I have done a couple of short courses in hands free and advance massage techniques which included some deep tissue massage. I have thought about doing a sports massage course which would be useful and provide me with more knowledge and confidence with massage in that area.
