Which Accreditation?

hi everyone. i'm planning to start school in the fall. i thought i had my school picked out and that i was ready to go, but someone pointed out another school that also could be interesting. the thing is, i was led to believe that a COMPTA accredited school was the way to go, but this new school is accredited by ACCET. i've talked to the new school and they seem just as convincing that ACCET is great, as the other school claimed COMPTA to be. i've also read that not everyone here is a COMPTA fan. i plan to go see the new school on thursday, but until then, what's your take on these two schools based only on accreditation? if it makes any difference, i plan to leave MI in 2 years. i'm not exactly sure which state i'll move to, but wouldn't want to limit my options.

I think your first priority will be ability to work. Check to see which and how many states accept ACCET accreditation and compare that.

Honestly, I don't think the accreditation source is going to make one school better than another. It shows the schools choice of association, but the curriculum and teachers will be what makes or breaks it for you. The important thing to ask is will you be able to WORK. Does the school provide the required hours in each subject area so that you can work doing massage where you want to be. I know you aren't sure, yet, but you must have an idea of which states are options?

ok, thanks. that helps move me in the right direction. i'll check that out and maybe it'll demystify this whole accreditation thing. it's stressful to think you could go though a program and not be able to work!
