I'm currently in a massage program that I'm almost finished with, but I'm not satisfied with the quality of the program. I feel that students aren't learning enough about how NOT to hurt people.
We're learning 6 weeks of this or that modality, and no one has been taught how to avoid putting too much pressure on nerves. To the contrary- it seems the common attitude is that the more pressure you use, and the more it hurts, the better.
They practiced on me, and I had to go to the doc to see what was wrong with my neck afterward. I think the techniques seem sloppy. Some of the students have boasted that they don't even like people, or they're just in it for the "easy money."
Classes are lenient, poorly taught, and uninspiring. But I've already paid in over 10,000 dollars so far, and I'm about three fourths done, so I'm going to just finish.
However, once I'm done, I'm going to find another school and get retrained the right way.
I'm moving to North Carolina next spring, near the Fort Bragg area. I probably wouldn't mind retraining online as long as the material focuses on important details and is in depth.
Any advice?
