What would be a good anime to introduce to my mom?

I love anime very much, and I want to show my mother some good anime. The problem is, I'm not quite sure what she'd like.

My mom seems to think that all anime is "childish" like Pokemon (which she doesn't like AT ALL) and I want to prove her wrong by showing her a totally epic anime. :D

My mom and I aren't picky when it comes to the genre: anything from action to psychological to romance to comedy. (just no hentai, ecchi, etc.)

One thing I should note: I don't want anything really sexual or incredibly violent (you know, stuff like Elfen Lied)

OK first I would try Trigun. It's VERY funny witch is a big bonus but has trials of ones personal beliefs of right and wrong..(not religious) If it helps it is my own moms top fav. (shes 45)
Another is Ceres. It is more about a girl and her being like an angel and falling in love with the enemy.
And I agree with the Death Note but its not one of my moms favs.
