What oils are safe in pregnancy?

Sorry if this thread has been on here before, but I was trying to get some stretch mark cream and it had lavender and neroli in it. I'm sure that you cannot use lavender if you are pregnant. Am I right? Can anyone recommend an anti-stretch mark moisturiser that would be safe for me to use please?

Aloe Vera gel.
Apparently it is great for stretch marks, scars and burns etc. It is totaly natural so shouldn't be a problem.

If you do a search on this over the last 6-12months you should turn up, the thread i am thinking off actually turned into an antiwrinkle thread so you could always use that as your keyword!!

Lavender is an emenagogue so I was taught to avoid it in first three months....

The best thing I have ever used whilst pregnant and used it both times was the decleor range....

aromaessence (goes on first - but didnt bother with this the 2nd pregnancy)
followed by either tonsilatil or prolegene gel (the counter would advise one in the morning one in the night time) to be honest in preg 2 I only every used the prolegene at night, with the first pregnancy I alternated one night prolegene one night tonsilatil,
both are about £25.....this is expensive but they will last the entire pregnancy so works out good value for money...

forgot to add, if stretchmarks are apparent and itchy as they can be, pure calendula oil is fantastic for easing it off.

Neroli is fantastic for stretch marks. I don't personally believe that the odd drop of lavender oil is going to cause a termination of pregnancy. We have discussed this before and I respect you all for your views, but as I have said before, if lavender oil could terminate a pregnancy, well.....

I think stretch marks happen to some and not others. I had twins and didn't get one. (Don't all get jealous now). Seriously, some people just seem prone to them. Having said that I did moisturize daily, so maybe it helped.

Neroli is the oil for stretch marks though.

Oh, and I have just remembered vitamin E is good for strecth marks.

hiya,

i think its concensus that if you have that type of skin, you will get them whatever you do. hereditary factors sneak in too.

however, good old base oil is as good as anything. if you have no nut allergy, i'd use sweey almond. if you are worried at all, use avocado oil.

as candie says, if a few drops of lavender can cause terminations, it would solve many problems for some people.

really, the very fact you are massaging the skin, is helping. massage brings new blood to the surface and with it nutrients, can help with elasticity and obviously mosturises the area.

Talking of base oils, Jojoba is fantastic (though not strictly an oil I know).

Hi. Jojoba is a wax, not an oil and as far as I am aware is safe for those with nut allergies.
