What modalities go well with prenatal?

When I am finished with school in May, I'm going to take the carol Osborne-Sheets prenatal class. I'm planning my other CEU's for the year and I'm so excited about it! I'm going to be mostly working with women in the child bearing years.

What modalities go well with pregnant women?

I took her class last April... it was excellent. It's not some "credit for attending" class, there is a practical and a written exam that you must pass in order to get CEUs.

Shiatsu is another effective modality for pregnant women.

Reflexology But you're looking at investing 200 hours for this modality so keep that in mind.

I teach a CEU program titled Reflexology for the Childbearing Years at a couple of local massage and bodywork schools.

Oh, and birth doula if you don't mind being on call, a lot. :

Craniosacral, reiki, polarity, reflexology, gemstones...anything energetically based is perfect. Aromatherapy can be very effective, but you need to use care and sometimes pregnancy messes with your smell-o-meter.

You are right!! CranioSacral Therapy

There is a fairly new class through Upledger called CranioSacral Applications to Obstetrics. The class is based on research done by a military OB-GYN and his CranioSacral assistant, as well as the many midwives and doulas who perform CST every day. The class teaches how to work with woman from conception through delivery and beyond. It teaches you how to work with the pregnant mom and the baby to create the best possible gestation, labor and delivery.

We have a midwife in England who has been doing CST on all her clients for years and has not had one c-section delivery. It can be pretty powerful work and as a therapist is truly amazing to work on a baby in through mom's belly. I am so honored to do this work ....
