I'm not sure if caress or fondle is the right word but it's when you kind of massage a pregnant woman's belly sort of like you petting a dog, or "petting" a child's head (as in your fingers tightly-knit and your hands are slowly moving down a child's head and up again)
Sigh. I don't think I made much sense but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. So... what word can I replace instead of massage?
What is the right for patting lengthwise, in the context of "patting a pregnant woman's belly lengthwise"... Stroking?? But the connotation does not sound right
Rubbing sounds too harsh...
Slowly rubbing?? meh not good.
(Oh by the way it's for an essay. I'm trying to get the reader to picture a husband "RUBBING" his pregnant wife's belly as she is sitting down. You know, just a sweet family moment)
