The operators of two massage parlors in Metro Detroit are facing human trafficking charges after they allegedly forced workers to provide sexual services, officials said.
Victims forced to provide sexual services, work 12-hour days
After receiving a confidential tip, the SONIC task force allegedly investigated multiple massage parlors operated by Runping “Lisa” Huang and Chunxiu “Eva” Xu.
The workers at these businesses told authorities they were forced to provide sexual services and to work 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
These victims also didn’t speak English, had no access to transportation, and allegedly were forced to turn over earnings to Huang, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Novi, West Bloomfield, Farmington Hills and Shelby Township police assisted with the arrest of Xu and Huang.
Charges
Runping “Lisa” Huang was charged with the following:
Human trafficking enterprise-forced labor
Human trafficking enterprise-commercial sexual activity
Prostitution- accepting earnings
Transporting a person for the purpose of prostitution.
Chunxiu “Eva” Xu was charged with the following:
Human trafficking enterprise- forced labor
Transporting a person for the purpose of prostitution
They were arraigned in separate hearings on May 31.
Huang is being held on a $50,000 cash or surety bond, and Xu is being held on a $150,000 cash or surety bond.
“For too long human trafficking festered in the shadows of our communities while victims were fearful of being treated like criminals,” said Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald. “Law enforcement is working together to attack this problem with an unprecedented urgency. We will keep fighting to hold traffickers accountable and free victims.”
This comes as the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office Trafficking Unit and the Human Trafficking Task Force continue to work across jurisdictions to investigate and arrest traffickers.
Since November 2024, there have been 27 cases against human traffickers in Oakland County.
