Would a reflexologist do a session on somebody with a veruca?

Hi AngelEyes,
Yes. I am a reflexologist and have had several clients with verrucas. I just cover them up with a small piece of sticky plaster & work around that area. Also, I always advise the client to rub fresh garlic onto the verruca to get rid of it - it works wonders!

Wow Angel Eyes haven't you been busy!

As Juliet says, it is OK to treat as it is a local contra indication, so avoid the immediate area (with plaster is normal) then carry on with the rest of the routine.

Great tip about garlic by the way Juliet.

I have been studying Reflexology at home (just for myself really) and really wanted a treatment done myself but have been putting it off because I have a veruca that is really hard to get rid of... so firstly today I will go and buy myself some garlic (yes I'm going to smell lovely)

Then book myself a session of reflexology....

Hi AngelEyes, I agree with the other comments - I'd treat but I'd cover the verruca with a small plaster.

I would and do treat people with verucas. I just put some plaster over it and carry on as normal.

I don't know if this works but I have heard from a chiropodist that taping a piece of banana skin to the veruca over night does the trick. You have to do it every night though!

I also treat using plasters if necessary.

I was told about the banana skin thing too, by a chiropodist, but dont know if it works.

Bit less smelly than garlic though. Mmm.

Yup, garlic, banana skin pith side directly on to the verruca, and tea tree oil can all zap veruccas. Also lemon I believe. A client of mine who's an ex chiropodist says a thin slice of garlic taped over the verruca with a plaster is a good trick.

My son had veruca's and we tried everything to get rid of them. Eventually I got some tea tree oil and my manicure set out, I very gently filed down the veruca and then applied tea tree oil (plasters kept slipping off so I gave up with them). After about 10 days the veruca's were gone (he had 3 on 1 foot and 2 on the other!). Hope this method works for anyone out there suffering with them!

Yes I've tried plasters and they keep slipping off me too, so the Tea Tree Oil sounds good...think I might try that one.

It is pure Tea Tree Oil? If so where do you get it from?

I found that taking mega dose of vitamin C helped. I tried all the conventional meds and the only one I found really good was Occlusal which is like a varnish & stays on better than Bazooka. I also tried tea tree, lemon and Wartner, but can't really say what it is that cleared my up. They just vanished almost overnight. If you do need to use plasters, try Micropore surgical tape - it stays put better.

Pure essential oil from the Tea Tree plant (Melaleuca Alternifolia) can be bought at Boots, Holland & Barrett, any Health Food shop and most 'New Age' type shops.

Usually the higher the price the better the oils BUT economically you find one you like and can afford and go with that.

I've tried Tea Tree oil, Lavender Oil on my warts/verucae all to no avail and yet, when I recommend these remedies to others, their's vanish with amazing rapidity. Perhaps I'm a wart charmer and my burden is to carry the warts of others[].

I'm off to raid the garlic jar - anyone for smelly feet?????

Yes as Paul said Tea Tree oil available from most chemists, I got mine from Boots it is from their Botanics range in a little brown cylindrical box 100% tea tree oil!

My sons feet were very uncomfortable with so many verucas on one foot and this really worked far better than I had expected, and there is no sign of anymore - I think that gently filing the veruca down was helpful as it gave the oil something to sink into..........ugh, I dont like feet much!

Hi AngelFish - Micropore tape shouldn't really be used over verrucae - it's porous, hence the name. If you have a condition which is potentially infectious, micropore isn't the tape to use.
