What is Myofascial Integration?
A technique specified for fascia!
First here is what fascia does.
Myofascial Integration Technique is massage for the fascia in your body. Sometimes confused with Myofascial Release, M.I.T. addresses the treatment of pain, fascia, and other soft tissue much differently.
A muscle is designed like an orange. The muscle is surrounded by fascia, (like the white layer of an orange after it is peeled), and each fiber is also surrounded by fascia, (like the wedges of the orange), and each micro fiber in each muscle fiber is surrounded by fascia.
The fascia of one muscle is connected through a network of fascia to all tendons, ligaments, muscles, and bones in your entire body!
Imagine taking Saran wrap and wrapping it around your entire arm. The tighter the Saran wrap, the less range of motion you would have in your arm. Well fascia works the same way but it covers your entire body. Myofascial Integration heats up the fascia and allows the muscles and tendons to breathe and lengthen.
M.I.T. is different than a relaxation or therapeutic massage in that you will be participating in the massage with the therapist. Structural Analysis, Isolated Stretching, Arthro Kinetics, and specific movements both active and passive will help your body unbind fascia tissue and restore range of motion and muscle rejuvenation.
Also unlike a "typical" massage sports shorts, tank tops, athletic wear, bathing suits, or other exercise type clothing can be worn during the entire treatment.
My suggestion is to check the web.
Why should I get a myofascial Integration Massage?
Here are some of the benefits MIT can help.
Restore structure and posture
Improve Neuro-Somatic body awareness
Enhance muscular action, range of motion, and joint flexibility.
"Retrain" individual muscle memory from repeated use or non-use.
Help alleviate the ROOT cause of chronic pain, not "chasing" the pain.
Help bound scar tissue, fibromyalgia management, and other specific conditions.
You will receive the same type of treatment, by a nationally certified MIT therapist, that is used in the Olympics and Professional Sports teams.
