I am new to the forum and am looking for information regarding the use of Ultrasound in Massage Therapy Practise
What types are out there and where does one get certification for these?

Ultrasound Treatments

The only places I've seen ultrasound therapy used for soft tissue manipulation is in chiropractic offices. I used it on patients of a chiropractor I used to work for, but it was under his direction so I'm not sure whether a certification/license is required for it. Might vary by state. I don't remember what type was used, but I could probably find out. Are you looking for names of brands and models?

I live in Saskatchewan, and have been a Registered Massage Therapist for 18 years and am looking for something that is a compliment but has a certification validity. I have my PTA (Physical Therapist Assistance) course and have used Ultrasound but as you...only under the direction of the Head Physical Therapist.
I am looking at the Bio-Flex Laser System as well...

I took a course about 10 years ago on US and tens, finaly bought a used unit 4 years ago and love it, it cost me $700 canadian and was almost new (mettler sonicator).
I use it for tears, strains, sprains. depends on patient flow and size of clinic, also type of patient and injury you see. Not much help with typical postural problems seen with office workers etc.

Make sure that using such equipment falls within your legal scope of practice. Here in the USA, most massage therapists are not permitted to use TENS units or ultrasound.

Florida allows it as long as you can prove "compentency" (ceu certifications and such)
