treatment on aromatherapist

Hi I had a client walk in the other day and I noticed she had whites on when i asked her occupation she laughed and said aromatherapist! She was asking me what oils would be best for her etc, she was a lovely girl but at the same time I felt quite intimidated and nervous as though she was checking me out, has anybody else experienced this, oh she must have enjoyed the treatment as she rebooked for a fortnight later

Hi Alli,

I had an aromatherapy tutor as a case study! She was lovely to work with and praiseworthy of my work. She explained to me that as, in all things, you can't see things clearly for yourself, so in asking 'what's best for me?' your client is probably genuinely asking your opinion, not trying to catch you out.
You'll know how hard we all have to work in this business, so it's not surprising the poor girl needs a treatment. You might be able to do swoppsies with her and get treatments yourself!
If she had an ulterior motive, like checking out the competition, I doubt she would have made another appointment.

I have had several therapists come to me, to be honest it doesnt make a difference anymore but at first I did feel intimidated as I was new to the profession, it doesnt matter anymore, if people like you and like what you do they will come back, regardless of what they do...

Actually you can feel chuffed you are treating other therapists and getting them to pay for it!!!

Me too! I've had two reflexologists and an aromatherapist, and a Shiatsu lady, and I felt really wonky when I first began, but now I jolly well know what I am doing, and one became a friend and we do swoppsies, so that is a great benefit.

It can feel unnerving treating another therapist but I treat two chiropractors and an Alexander Technique teacher and have also treated an aromatherapist, a reflexologist and a learned HP friend (who has lots of experience in a number of therapies - scary!) and it does get less unnerving. You also get to learn a bit more about their therapies which comes in useful of course.
