translation please

I am looking for the U.S equivelent of the European term for a physiotherapist. I will explain what this person does and then you might have some idea.

Say if a patient has been found to suffer from a prolapse disk. He then would probably see a physiotherapist who would use exercises to rehabilitate the injury.

Would same be physiologist?

From the description...it could be a physical therapist - they do work on rehabilitating the function of the injured area.

Since it sounds like it is spine-related, you could also look to a chiropractor. Depending on the client's condition, they may adjust the spine and then give the patient exercises to help keep them in alignment and strengthen the muscles surrounding the injured area.

In Canada, we have physiotherapists. They do just as you said, rehabilitation, anywhere on the body.

The translation for a physiotherapist is Physical Therapist in the US. I do believe most other countries use physiotherapist including Canada, Australia, and the UK.

And Physical Therapist is abbreviated to PT, like Massage Therapist is abbreviated to MT
