Tinnitus (CST, other modalities?)

I'm curious specifically about CST's success rates with tinnitus... but also open to hearing about any other modalities that might help.

Searching brought up a paucity of previous threads, and so I'm interested to have us talk about this issue specifically.

I can only speak from personal experience on this topic.

I have worked with two clients with tinnitus (among other health concerns) and both clients reported after 3 or 4 sessions, that it was completely gone. I would have to look at my specific notes for these clients, but my guess is that there was tension in the Tentorium and probably work that had to be done relating to the movement of the temporal bones.

You would have to ask Walt, Mick or one of the others who has more JFB MFR experience... but I believe that John Barnes teaches that tinnitus is often tied in with misalignment in the pelvis as well.

It is interesting that you bring this up. There is a relationship between the Temporals and the Ilia. Often (not always) if there is 'something' going on with one or both of the Temporals, there is 'something' going on with one or both of the Ilium.

Great questions! Tinnitus, TMJ, ect, CAN be tied to a misaligned pelvis. If one looks at the body's response to a rotated pelvis, this can all be made clearer. If the pelvis is asymetrical (for example, right anterior and left posterior, the most common type), the sacrum is forced to rotate. This will cause an inevitable rotation of the spine which will translate right up into the cranial base. Rotation of the cranial base will case a shift in the cranium, often leading to asmetrical rotation of the temporals. This rotation will lead to a disturbance in the orientation of the inner ear mechjanism as well as an unlevelness of the TMJ. Local treatment of the temporals or TMJ may give temporary relief, but it may be necessary to look beyond this region to bring about full resolution. It is not an "always" scenario, but well worth looking at the entire body.

It really depends on what is going on. That's why whole body evaluation is so important. Taking Walt's response a step further ... we would next need to ask the body 'what is causing the pelvic rotation?' If it is coming from a knee, the knee must be released before the pelvis can be released before the dural tube can be released before the occiput ....... and on and on.

So, it's not as easy as working the ilia to help release the Temporals/TMJ. Sometimes it can be, but often there is more info that's needed.

A virus? Wouldn't that run it's course though?

I know someone who has suffered with tinnitus for years.

I didn't say it was always the case but often it is. A virus or even a bacterial infection in the inner ear can often last for many, many months due to the fact that there is a lot of filtering of fluids so that medication doesn't really help. Chinese medicine works because it raises internal heat which can kill the virus.

I had this happen to me in 1996 after swimming in Malibu. It went on for close to half a year. The buzzing in my ear was maddening and unrelenting. I went to internists, ear specialists, had cat scans done to check for tumors, had CST, MFR, reflexology, you name it, nothing helped. Was given a hopeless prognosis and told to "live with it." Went to a Chinese doctor who treated it as a viral infection, gave me natural remedies and it was gone within 3 days.
