Ticklish over tense areas, numbness in legs

I've noticed similar reactions in 2 clients I have been massaging where areas with significant tension are ticklish when petrissaged. I also experienced this myself a couple of weeks, my trapezius was completely knotted and felt very ticklish to the touch.

Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to combat this during massage? Also both clients felt a numbness in their legs during massage which disappeared once I started working on the upper body.

Intrigued! Anyone have any explanations as to why this occured?
