You can take a bet, that this is not only so in Shanghai, but certainly also in Beijing.

That my report was definitely not a singular experience, you can read in the same thread by the responses, that I got.

The thread is not complimentary for myself, but newbies should be spared that experience and the scammers should be fought at every end and if it is only by reporting here in the forum and then sticking to that advice!

Agree with Teltel. OK to use credit cards in Hotels, but be careful using at all other places, to many scams. Better to use cash.

They do have atm's but you will have to find atm's that work with foreign (overseas) cards, I usually use the Industrial and Commercial bank, exchange rates are reasonable at atm's. Credit cards are accepted at many palces but be aware of the scams, do not let the card out of your sight.

Just wanted to thank the guys for the info. Nine more days and I am on my way. Really looking forward to that 14 hour plane ride (yech). Have tried to contact a couple of hotties on Craigs List but no response yet. Will also have to try one of the amps. Sw's and BBS's are also some options. If everythig fails i'l just wank off

Another question though, do they have ATM's? Are credit cards widely accepted in restaurants and shops. I guess I am just not too settled in my own mind how 3rd world or civilized world BJ is.

On the way to tongzhou on chaoyang bei lu, is there a long strip of barber shops/massage parlors on the right side? The shops had bright Las Vegas style lights and the girls would come out to meet and greet their customers. I remember going by there last year but can't remember if that was the road. the barber shops charge around 60yuan + for a hand job through to 100/200 /300 or more for other services depending on whether you are a foreigner, a local etc and what they can get away with. the ones in side third ring road can be expensive compared to ones further out.

I live in tongzhou district and pay 60/100 for hj/bj through to 150 full service, sometimes includes a good arse licking and at one place bbj, fuck and bbj cim for 100 but that is in my district not central beijing.

I will be in BJ on the nights of April 5, 6 , and 7 staying at the Oriental Peace Hotel. I booked this hotel based on info I got from the board. I have a lot of questions and although some of them are addressed on the board the info is not up to date.
1. What about money exchange? I assume USD is not accepted. I will need taxi fare to get from the airport to hotel. What is best way to handle this?

2. Can I get Craislist in an internet massageplanete. I have been checking that here at home and there are lots of hotties using it for advertising. The ones that say full service are asking 800 RMB usually. Are there any scams of the Craigslist providers that I should be aware of?

3. I gather that it is probably not difficult to find SW's around the hotel areas. Here again, is there any danger lurking there that I should be on the watch for?

4. I have read about a sauna (Lily"s I believe) Any recommendations on that?

5. I visited a KTV in Vvet Nam and it was a huge ripoff are the KTVs in BJ the same?

6. I am not clear on the services and prices of the BBS's. any recent info here?

I probably have some other questions but nothing is flashing to mind at the moment. Been fortunate in having done some great mongeing around the world because of great info I have received on this board. Hope you guys familiar with BJ won't let me down. I had stayed at the Tianjin Sheraton Hotel during last November (one night only).

When you get out of the hotel and cross the road and turn to the left, then you go towards downtown along a canal which runs along the street, and after about 300 meters you turn right, cross the canal and turn right again to walk a few meters back in the direction from where you came, but on the other side of the water.

There are about 4 or five joints where you have girls waiting for customers.

In one place I liked a girl but due to difficulties in the communication with the mamasan and the girl declining, probably being afraid of not knowing how to communicate, I left there with and just had to go back to the hotel.
Time was about 11 pm on a Sunday night.
It was bloody cold that evening.

So I can´t tell you where to go, but maybe in terms of mongering the Sheraton (otherwise good 5-star hotel!) is not the best place to stay.
For better places in Tianjin others must jump in.

In Beijing I just know the area around the Kempinski Beijing Lufthansa Center Hotel (bloody expensive 5-star hotel, but room, service and restaurants are good).
At night there are a few girls strolling around the outside, looking for business. Looks of the girls, in my view, are so so.
I picked one for short time and she was good and kind, but it was not one of those nights that I would remember forever...
