Finding action in beijing - barbershops
Barbershops, are mostly in the lanes and alleys, pause outside the shops with one or two girls in them they usually smile, nod or wave etc other wise if it looks likely just go in and point to the back room / area.

Negotiate hard and walk if too expensive. One of my favourites is to do two, three or more in one day / night, exhausting but still cheaper than an all night star fish. Absolute tops price for bbbj or cbj is 200rmb, can be had for less and FS for 200rmb if you do the walk routine and business is slack.

Also have a look at the new tourist area, Lotus Lane HouHai to the north of Beihai park, lots of bars and girls. The usual scams are there, try to get a girl who is a part timer trying to pay the rent or morgage. Got shorttime for 300rmb all I could take a few times this way.

Best I had was a part timer divorcee trying to pay a mortgage, great bbbj and fuck.

Stayed one day and night in the Hua Du Hotel in Chaoyang District.plenty of girls in the lobby and the hotels own ktv and night clubs.Same deal as what other peolpe have posted. Girls wanted 1000rmb straight up. They want to know if it your first trip to China. It was not "their scene" here so we can go to a tea house that I know not far from here. A firm no to all their offers and questions was all that was needed to start talking about business. Two girls, that spoke very good english, wanted to do a double-up. After nearly 20mins of hard talking I managed to get them for 700rmb each.No problems taking them upstairs to your room. They did a good show with plenty of oral on eachother and bbbj on me. Same deal but, one shot away, and so were they. Then they had the hide to ask for taxi money! I told them that I had just given them 700rmb each, if that was not enough for a taxi, then the taxi driver is a bigger thief than them!!

Stayed at the Howard Johnson Paragon hotel at the weekend, first morning was woken by an incredible noise at 6am. No more sleep after that. The reason - the room overlooked the atrium in the centre of the building and the atrium is used as a dining room, the chinese staff were getting ready to serve breakfast, the banging of things, shouting (and a stand up argument between two staff members) and the natural echo effect in the atrium I requested a change of room for the following night. Got a better room still overlooiking the atrium but on the ninth floor, much quieter and slept until 10am.

Anyone staying at this hotel try not to stay in a room overlooking the atrium on floors 5 to 8 (unless you want to be woken at 6am sharp. After a night on mongering (hopefully) who needs a grumpy pro at 6am when you are looking forward to an 8am or later session. .

Rate was good, 518 rmb, discount from 1,300 rmb, booked through sinohotel.com have tried them a few times and they have been good every time.

Seems to be common scam in PRC. Beware those who go to Nanjing Road in Shanghai...much the same story. I like your trick though about carrying around a credit card which will be declined.

Funny, the same thing happened to me last weekend in Beijing. She said she was learning english and wanted to practice with someone. We went to some tea house and the bill came to 2800 RMB. She said she wasn't careful when looking at the menu. I said I didn't have any cash, and purposely tried a credit card that I knew would be declined. She was forced to pay the bill and was extremely pissed at me walking out, saying it's poor custom in China for the man not to buy the drinks.

Dude! How far have you fallen off the stupid tree? You deserved what you get for being a stupid naive foreigner. Scam or not, it's common sense not to befriend with a stranger you've never met regardless of how young and hot she is and to take her and her friends to dinner is not a good idea....you don't know these people and they are not your friends..period! You know you've got scammed the first night with a bill topping 1,000RMB and you decided to take the scam artist out the next night to a bar restuarant?! Damn dude how stupid can you be?

This is a variation on other scams 1. the art students who want to practice english and 'by the way' would you like to visit our studio, the tea drinking scam 'would you like to help me with my english and by the way do you like tea?' anohter is like to come to our ktv, club, bar etc, lots of girls.

The modus operandi is to get english speaking (often english majors from uni. or college) to pose as art students etc or even older people, usually women but sometimes men.

So beware, most people are trying to scam you if they don't know you or even if they do know you they are seeking some advaneforum.xxxe, you are the foreigner and are fair game.

Beware of this scam in Biejing. my experience happened at Wangfujing walking street. here it goes.
I was walking early afternoon when I was approached by this reasonably beautifull young girl tall with big boobs. She said do you speak english. I said yes. She said in effect she wants to learn more english and she is going to school to learn english and she wants to practice with a foreigner. I said ok. To get acqainted better I told her to eat lunch with me. She tried to take me to a tea house but I did not like the look of it and did not feel safe. So I said I wanted to go to KFC to which she agreed. We talked for an hour about lot of things exchanged phone numbers and parted. So far so good.
In the evening she called me and asked me to meet her at KFC. When I went she introduced me to her male "friend" saying he is her classmate. She then insisted we go to a bar to have a drink. In the bar both of them order a bottle of wine and I stuck with jack daniels. My mistake was not looking at the menu. They also ordered a fruit platter.
To cut the long story short when the bill came it was 1600 RMB. All this time she behaved like My GF kissing touching etc. I asked the waiter why the bill was so high. He showed me the menu and for a bootle of Chinese wine it was more than $100 US. What can I do. I paid the bill. I was furious at myself for falling into this scam. I left them saying i had a meeting.
Next day she called me again and wanted to drink wine. i had already wised up. I said ok just you and me go for drinks. She said her friend wants to come also. I firmly said no. So I met her . She was alone. After walking few steps she got a call. She said her friend wanted to give her a book and she has to wait for him. Very soon he was there and he insisted he wants to come with us too. I said no. We started walking again in the direction of same bar, to which I said I am going to take you to a better bar. In spite of her objection I took her to a bar restaurent. She did not want to order the wine anymore. So we had dinner and parted. Later I called her and told her I know all her scams and if she wants to be my friend she has to quit scamming and be my friend. She apologised profusely and became my friend . We went to forbidden city, great wall etc together. I still could not get her into bed because she said she is a virgin and seventeen years old. She is trying make money during the summer time doing this scam.

Asians in general are very strong in negotiations. Many europeans worry about bad servece when they negotiate. The main point, there service will not get worse when you talk down the price. It will get better, because they will not respect you, if you simply accept the first, second or third offer.

If you go to the Pig & Whistle, or HRC, the girls will speak to you in English, no problem... They will ask you to take you to your hotel... and you ask them how much.. they give you the price in RMB... current rate is 7.6 RMB= 1 USD...
Many will ask you where you are staying, and if it is a 5 star hotel, ask more..

Dont be shy to negotiate.. tell them you are not a rich man.. your company pays for the hotel... etc.. etc.. only have so much.. (always adjust your wallet before going out.. stash some cash out of view... etc... ) and never tell them this is your first time in China... many times an opening line if you look green..., just say.. no. many time here.... and brush it off... helps on the negotiation..

Maggies Bar is basically all working girls it doesnt get jumping till late (after midnight) drinks and beer are an insane ripoff so get drunk elsewhere before you go.

Girls are pretty hot, as others said they ask 1,500 - 1,000 for "all night" ( dont believe them about that part ). You can probably talk down to 800.

I dont know ther address sorry, many expat friendly bars and resturants have a magazine called "That's Beijing!" the address is listed in english and chinese there in their bar reviews ( i think they even have a website) just show the chinese address to a cab driver and you'll get there , or call up the place and ask someone who speaks english to tell the cab driver how to get there.
