HUFFMAN, Texas - A foot massage parlor just northeast of Houston has been closed by the state.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) issued a six-month emergency closure order for a massage establishment due to suspected human trafficking. The mandates the closure of 1&1 Foot Massage, and prohibits the operation of any other massage establishment at that location.
A routine TDLR inspection by uncovered several violations, including the absence of required licenses and consumer information signs. The inspector also found two unlicensed employees providing services and noted indicators suggesting that employees were living on the premises. Clothing, including lingerie, was found on site, and the establishment was advertised on illicit massage websites.
Authorities urge anyone suspecting human trafficking to contact the National Hotline for Human Trafficking at 1-888-373-7888 or text HELP or INFO to BeFree (233733). In emergencies or if someone is in immediate danger, individuals should call 911. Complaints about TDLR-regulated businesses suspected of participating in human trafficking can also be filed.
