Tee Tree Oil.. An Anteseptic?

Tea tree oil is one of the few oils that can be used undiluted on the skin. I always have it on-hand, use it as an antiseptic, particularly for mosquito bites (we have lots of mosquitos here in the summer). It works real good.

How are your experiences with this oil??

ALL oils should be used with caution - tea tree included - I actually prefer to use Ravensara instead - I think tee tree has become overused by the cosmetic industry and is leading to sensitisation -

You can use ravensara neat like teatree... I prefer it as the smell it milder

Also, check out the spec on Manuka oil. It's from the bush that the bees produce the famous honey from.It's said to be 5 times more effective than tea trea

It refers sometimes to low aroma Manuka oil - they produce this for people who may think the normal smell is too strong. I love the smell of the 'normal' oil - it's not an antisepticsmell like tea tree. I used to own a horse and it reminds me of the lovely smell of a saddlery!!

I use it just like tea tree - undiluted for first aid on burns and cuts and diluted for an aromatherapy treatment or where a dry skin condition is prevalent as it is a dry oil so 5% dilution or less is recommended.

I agree about using Ravensara. It's a good anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial oil, but gentler than tea tree. And yes, it can be used neat, although I would recommend that this is only done over a small area, such as on a couple of spots, bits or a small area of athlete's foot.

I wouldn't recommend using any oil neat over a larger area of the body.

Well I also suffer from frequents cough and colds.. Can I use it in such case ? Because this is due to allergy..
