Taking CE courses as a student?

I'm curious about this. A local chiropractor is offering an 8 hour course on working with trigger points and fascial adhesions at my school. The cost is normally about $200, but it's only $50 for students. I'm over a year into my course of study (I'll graduate in May, sit my exams in June, and be licensed in July), and my instructors have said we know enough at this point that we'd be able to benefit from the information. I'm inclined to go, especially since the cost and timing are so convenient.

This has me thinking about taking more CE classes. Did you take any continuing education while still a student? What was most/least helpful? What would you stay away from? What do you now wish you had studied while you were still in school?

I took CE classes while I was in school. Mostly because the prices were better. I know I took Aromatherapy, which I'm glad I too. I took something else too, but don't remember, so guess I didn't *need* that one! LOL A quote I once read is "All knowledge is worth having*. So to me there is no *bad* CE class.

I kinda wish I had done a dissection while in school, it wasn't in our curriculum.

Also, my school gave me credit for hours I spent in CE classes.

Yes - I took classes while still a student.
I did not get a price break though - I am so jealous.
I was almost finished with my school but had not yet sat for the NCTMB. I didn't feel out of place at all in any of the classes.

A class on trigger points is perfect at this seforum.xxxe.
You will gain some knowledge that will help you explain what trigger point are to clients ( I STILL struggle with this one!), some basic treatment for different areas, probably some practice on palpation skills, and you will start getting familiar with the trigger point pain patterns.

This is a great opportunity for you!

Just an update for folks:

I did end up taking the course, and it was definitely helpful and well worth the time and money! There were other students and newly licensed professionals there, so I felt pretty at home with the group. I gained a lot of confidence in my ability to palpate trigger points and get them nailed down; before, they were always slipping away from me! Although it wasn't technically the subject of the class, the other thing I learned most about was what it's like working in the office of a physician or chiropractor ... very different from the sort of environment our instructors have been preparing us for! The presenters (a chiro/LMT team) were very helpful, friendly, and informative. I'd definitely advise other students to go ahead and take those interesting courses they've been wondering about now, if the opportunity presents itself. You'll do better in school for the experience!
