Hi, i was in superdrug to day and came across a moisteriser which was there own brand called naturals, it was non scented nothing added to it.
I was wondering if it would be anygood to use a base cream and add essential oils to it?? what u think??

It works for me froggy. I've been using that moisturiser for years. It's had a few name changes but is basically a good basic moisturiser for sensitive skin.
It isnt particularly rich or nourishing but then the low price reflects that. I add essential oils to it and use it as a facial moisturiser.

Nothing added, sure. But what is it?

Can you find out the ingredients? It must be made of something, I would say if it's petroleum-based, as most are, then avoid.

Get something vegetable-based instead - not necessarily for ease of use or price, but because you are going to be covering your hands in it and absorbing it through your skin all day.

It's really not a good idea to add essential oils to commercial high street products - you upset their formulations and they can get very unstable. Most of the aromatherapy suppliers sell specially formulated base products that are made to have essential oils added - Absolute Aromas are good. Better idea to make your own from scratch using Aromantics or similar recipes - then you know exactly whats in them. Almost all high street products, even the so called 'simple' ones, will probably have parabens and sodium laureth sulfates in them, which are not good.

Base Formula do a good base lotion paraben free, I use it, and add EO's to it, perfect for a light lotion

I hate to be overly cautious but advertising of beauty creams can be misleading - just like any type of promotion. Its probably wise to use a base oil for moisture with an essential oil (from a reputable herbalist) in the bath/shower

If I were you I'd check the ingredients for SLS, parabens, petroleum products and things like that, I think there should be rules imposed for putting "Natural" in product names lol

I got some shampoo, conditioner and shower gel bases from naturallythinking.com, they are brilliant They also do moisturiser and cleanser bases too, they are made specifically so you can add your own essential oils and carrier oils, on the conditioner page it even gives you the percentage of oils that can be added without turning your hair greasy, which I found useful. I like to use cocoa butter (They also sell a range of butters) in mine and they blend very easily Hope this is useful!
