I take it nobody has heard of this ???
If you are interested in finding out what it's all about
look up Mukunda Stiles on line. He has practiced yoga
for over 40 years and found ways of working with clients
and using it for self-care, which can be profoundly healing.
In many ways it is similiar in effect to Active Isolated Stretching techniques, ART, or even Shin Tai. Limbs can be
placed in various positions to open up the joints and then manipulated with rotations and also placing one hand on the insertion region and the other on the opposite end of the limb being worked then alternating pressure and motion back and forth between the ends. Then having the client actively, but gently push against your hand (in a stationary position) & repeat this action 3 to 4 times.
By the time you've worked with each area of concern, the
ROM is generally improved to a large degree, depending of course, on how much restriction was there initially. By doing this work and then following up with having the client do yoga postures regularly there will be further improvement, healing and strengthening.
I hope this will inspire some of you to look into this modality, for your own benefit as well as your client's benefit !
