storing oils in ...

I am making an anti-dandruff shampoo, and a conditioner to help my boyfriend with his dandruff and dry / damaged hair, when adding essentail oils to a shampoo or condioner base do they need to be stored in a dark bottle as anessential oil would ifin a base oil?

Whats the base way for me to store them??

Hi Colleen,
It is better if you can to use an opaque or darkened bottle, but you can use a plastic one, so maybe just rinse out something you already have. You might like to add some Jojoba or evening primrose carrier oil to your blend which will help with the dryness, or alternatively make a mix of carrier oil with the essential oils in and massage into the scalp, leave on as long as possible (at least an hour) then shampoo out. If you use this method when shampooing, add the shampoo 'neat' before wetting the hair, as this helps to emulsify the oil. Good Luck!

You could also add some Nettle tincture to your shampoo

- its a good time of the year to make it too - its very good for dandruff.
