Hello all,
Hope to get some feedback. I am doing my sports massage course and for a case study I am looking after a runner training for London marathon as a first timer. He found last year he has one leg shorter than other and started to wear a shoe lift, but only while running. Last week he started to get low back and groin pain so I saw him and worked on all low back, glute, piriformis and psoas muscles. Right leg is shorter one but left psoas was the tight one. There was no problem while I worked on it and then showed him how to stretch. Also convinced him to wear his shoe lift all the time, not just while running.
That was on Sunday. He went out for a run Monday night and while running got a stitch on the right side which didn't go away.
When I talked to him 4 days later he said it was still niggling. And it appears to be about belt level.
It could be where I was working, but he felt nothing at the time and nothing worse when he does the stretches. But it is just there.
I am a bit uncertain, if it was a stitch would it not have gone? He can't come to see me again for a few more days because of work committments.
Is there something I can tell him to do?
Any ideas what has happened? And what can be done? Did the treatment set something off?
When I was working the psoas I didn't do any stroking, it was only stretching it out by sliding foot down the table. I have done this before, with no ill effects.
Any ideas?
