STAFF REQUESTS FOR AROMATHERAPY ON SITE

Hi,

I work at an NHS centre where I give aromatherapy and reflexology to patients with immune related problems. Last week I was asked by a couple of Receptionists whether I would give staff short relaxation treatments, as a few people had asked about it, having noticed the lovely aromas coming from the consultation room I use.

I wonder whether anyone here does on-site massage or aromatherapy and if so what price do you charge for a 30mins taster treatment.

I shall be taking my price list and run down on treatments offered when i go there next tuesday, 12th June.

Any advice would be most welcome.

I go to a couple of companies in the evenings with a couple of fellow therapists

we charge £15 for 30min treatments - dont say you are doing tasters - people wont value the treatments otherwise

we offer shorter treatments to accomodate everyone but the treatments still have the full benefit

Are you employed by the centre? If so, you may need to check your contract to see if you are able to use their facilities in order to treat andcharge other employees for private treatments. It is a big no-no in my clinic, so they come to me at my own place or I do home-visits.

Thanks for the comments. Sarah I think £15 is a reasonable amount to charge and I take your point aboutoffering "tasters".

I am not directly employed by the centre the people I work for are contracted and if you like I am sub-contracted.I don't workor live near enough to the clinic to offer treatments from my clinic, but I have another work colleague who does- which may provide an option. I would of course check out whether I can use a room for this work with the centre manager, and also pass it by the charitable company that employs me. If I am charged for use of a room then this will come into my costing for treatments. I cannot see the NHS paying though for the staff to have treatments they are very cash strapped.

Any more tips gratefully received.

Hi Binah,

I'm a qualified Holistic massage therapist doing on-site and aromatherapy, Indian Head massage, reflexology, Reiki and Lymphatic drainage. I charge £15 for 30 minutes. I wld be interested in working for NHS. Pls do let me know.

Hi Binah

We charge £15 in recognition of the fact that they (the centre) are letting you use the room without charge. Point out the benifits to the staff, especially given the enviroment the staff are working in, I would bet that the manager wouldnt mind a treatment either.

its not difficult

go onto the nhs directory website or email them [email protected]

you will need to fill in a bank mandateand send them copies of your qualifications and insurance , fill in a short form and send it back to them

Hi,

Well I've submitted my proposal to the Centre Manager and now I just wait to find out the reply... watch this space. To start with I will be offering 5 slots of 30 mins per week - I shall see what the demand is and hope to expand.

Hemelgirl - do staff have massages in work time or their time, what is the usual scenario.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

when I go in with my team we go in, in the evening setting up at 6pm and starting at either 6.30 or 7pm finishing the last clients at 10pm

the 30 min treatment does also include a short consultation and you have to take into account the clients getting undressed and dressed again.
