Sister just burned herself! Qiuick help please !

My sister has just burned her hand on hair straightners , it was very quick contact but the skins puffy and red!

what do you suggest i ran out of lavender

You could try German Chamomile or Aloe Vera gel (both is good)

if you have neither of the above just keep the hand in cold water.

If you have an Aloe vera plant cut a leaf and squeeze the gel on the burn. An Aloe vera plant in any home is well worth having. The leaf end will scar up so don't worry you won't harm the plant. lyn

bit late now, but for future reference - cold running water for 20min is the general first aid recommendation.You've got to bring the temp of the area down ASAP, for such a small area, you can probably do it for a bit less, but the running water can make a huge difference, it gets boring, because it starts to feel better very quickly, and you think "that's enough" but the longer the better. Then you can put whatever you like on it.

I agree cola. Don't put anything on a burn except cold running water for about 20 mins. Then leave it alone and get medical advice if it still continues to feel hot. Any kind of oily substance on the burn will cause it to fry as the layers of skin hold the heat for some time.

Essential oils are not actually oily, but quite volatile. Neat lavender is very well known for treating burns immediately. It also helps with the pain and possible scarring.

I know you said that you'd run out out of lavender, but was justposting thisfor information.

I've heard the same thing Aromababe. Lavender has been known to be a great antiseptic and antibiotic.

if you haven't any lavender or aloe use cold teabags. also wrapping the burn in cling film will ease the pain as it's contact with air that hurts
