Palestinian Independence? Singapore is one of the few countries in Asia that is greatly allied with Israel, and it is known to be one of the few countries that despite urges and pleas from other countries, completely refuses to recognize Palestine's independence, even after the NAM, which Singapore is a member of, declared its support for Palestine.
Singapore is also known to be a hub for international trade, even for Arabic countries, which also share friendly relations with the wealthy city-state.
What puzzles me the most is that Singapore's close relationship with Israel and its indifference towards Palestine seems to have almost no effect to its close economic and diplomatic relations with Muslim states that are hostile to Israel, such as Iran and Saudi Arabia (although Malaysia and Indonesia seem to be pissed at Singapore for this).
Why is that so? If there were problems between Singapore and the Arab states regarding the latter, please tell me. I really need this for my International Relations paper. Thanks!
P.S. I am not an Israeli, Singaporean, Palestinian, Malaysian, Indonesian, nor Arabic. I am Spanish-Thai. So I don't have any bias against the conflict. I'm just a student who needs a term paper done. Thanks!
