Short trip report - Beijing

How long will you be here for?
It is winter now, 6 to 10 degrees below at night and just above zero during the day. Pollution is heavy on some days and I mean heavy - cannot even see the other end of a basketball court. This means you may get respiratory distress on a heavy pollution day so take it easy on those days.

Well I just had to change my flight in Beijing
Still the pollution is awful.
You can actually see a cloud from the plane over Beijing or where Beijing should be.

I flew in from Moscow. Saw everything out the window. Clear sky then came near the mountains over Beijing and the Land just disappears. Its really bad. Not as bad as I remember in Summer but really bad.

You wont see any Blue skies thats for Sure.
Well I am in Beijing again for a few days Next week after I am done with Korea. Dont think anything will change.

let me know when you are coming (PM), maybe recommend where to buy warm clothes. be careful of 'leather' here, china makes plastic that even smells like leather. Tourist places like wangfujing are expensive but some of the places for chinese shoppers are very cheap and remember haggle, haggle and haggle

I'll have to buy a leather jacket, scarf and beanie when i get to Beijing.
Will definitely be taking alot of pictures of massage/sauna exteriors and surroundings and collecting their business cards,etc.

Good luck at the BBS & massage, just check when you go in that the place is heated.Most heating in Beijing comes from community nbased heating and hot water radiators, if the heating is off in the day time it may be a bit cold in some places.
weather will be variable some days/nights colder than others but overall it will be cold, longjohns and warm clothes are the order of the day.

I've been told it's going to be freezing temperatures in Beijing come this November. I'll be visitng the Great Wall for the tour stuff and freezing my ass off, most of the time i'll be at a massage parlour/suana/BBS....hey got to keep warm somehow

when do you get to beijing?
It usually snows in the north of beijing municipality before beijing city gets snow. The great wall is to the north so maybe it will have snow when you get here.

Wow..i hope the air pollution gets better before next years Summer Beijing Olympics...damn it's going to be chaos next year...just too many fuckin' people in China. I bet it's going to snow by the time i get there, wonder what it's like seeing the Great Wall covered in snow...SWEETTTT!!

In recent weeks the air pollution has been the worst in five years, the temperature is now sub-zero at night and above zero in the day time but snow is not far away.

Oh yeah, the SO from Fuzhou. I'll be there again in one week and i bet it's going to be somewhat better because the Chinese government finally clean up the air somewhat over there to get ready for the Olympics but it's going to be cold and it might snow too..

My SO is from the PRC. Last year she had a great job offer in Beijing but refuses to live there because of the air pollution. I didn't know it could be that bad.

I just left Beijing, and no it's not a hoax.

The air pollution is awful.

At the end of each day, I find black dusts in my nostrils.

I lived 7 years in Bangkok and it was 10 times worse regarding polution. Is it a new hoax to complain about Beijings and polution ?

ok, so i went to pig and whistles tonight at about 10pm, girls are kinda old.

then i went to Hard Rock... at about 11:00, a bunch of girls started to come in.

no one wanted to approach me... until one of the girls told me i look like i'm underage that's why no one wanted to approach.

anyway, finally got a girl to go back to the hotel, but the hotel said no one after 23:00 even after I repeated showed him an 100 rmb bill. the heck? i booked the hotel cuz i thought it's very lady friendly. so i sent the girl back.

another night gone to waste.

I've been walking on Wangfujing for 2 nights and nobody approaches me.

I did see some girls approach other foreigners.

Even taxi drivers couldn't tell I am not local.

I stayed in Beijing over summer
Yes yes air pollution was awful. Really there could be a skyscaper a 200 meters ahead and you wouldnt even know. Really it was that bad. Reminded me of N64 games when you get that fogging effect on golden eye.

Well anyway as for the pros. I was walking down Wangfujin st on my own. I was walking right oppsite Mcdonalds when a little hottie just came up to me and said I like you. You like me. I was stunned. I said yeah your very nice looking. Then she said it right away. You want sex massage. I said ok. It was my first night in China and I probably got ripped but It was still to cheap to believe. She told me 400RMB for first shot and 1000RMB for full night. It was already 23:00 at this time.

Getting her to the hotel was easy enough. I stayed at Xinqiao Novatel hotel. I told her to just follow me. She wasnt dressed like a what we would think of as a Pro. Just normal t-shirt and jeans. I walked in first really fast then she followed a few steps behind. No one asked any questions. I just didnt want to be stopped just incase. Experience was really nice. She was funny girl. Really had a great night. But in China in general I found it to easy to pick up pros as long as you walk alone and look like a dumb tourist. I stayed also 2 nights in a hotel called Dong wang or Dong dan hotel. I dont know. It was really cheap about $20 a night. I booked it from www.elong.net website. They would call up several times after 9pm if I wanted sex massage. It found it to be the same in Xian city hotel and City hotel in Shanghai. I would normally get calls several times a night and they would ask me if I wanted sex massage. I was to tired as I really just went for sight seeing so I dont know about the prices I didnt ask. But it can't be that much.

The weather in Beijing blows! I'll be there on November 23 til 28th on business and I'll be freezing my ass off! The air pollution is ranked the worst in the world and next years Beijing Olympics is gonna suck ass for the visitors when they have to resort to wearing those white SARS mask to prevent from inhaling coal dust in the atmosphere! Luckily i'll be indoors most of the time talking business and taking care of business

The weather is nice at about 75 degrees. But the polution is getting worse all the time. I has sinus trouble and was using Claratin D sinus meds, which help. When i left Beijing for another china city, i was OK.
