Selling blends

My place of work want me to make bath oils/creams to sell to the patients, these patients are not always clients of mine.
I'm sure there is quite strict regulations on labelling in this situation so.......
how about If the blends are always made up for the individual person after a short consultation with me. Would this then class them as a client of mine see they have signed consultation and i have checked medical history etc.
Also do the ingredients have to be on the bottle or can they be on a info card?
I know essentially oils products don't have ingredients on products only in catalogue.

Advise would be apprieciated.

I think you've got it dead right - if it is a client, you can legally and under the terms of your insurance, sell the blended products. It gets more complicated if you blend anything for general sale.

It is a minefield. When I checked aboutretailing my own products, I was told that I could supply them to my clients but if I wanted to SELL them to my clients, I would need further insurance and more insurance still for retailing to the general public(though not an extortionate amount). Maybe it depends who you are registered with? It is worth contacting them and asking the question. I would definitely do a bit more research before you go ahead - it took me 9 months to get to the point I am at now but am confident I have got it right.
Ingredients should be on inner and outer packaging unless this is too small, then you can add info leaflet but have to refer to the leaflet on the label! If the product is too small or funny shape (such as bath bombs) all the info has to be on a notice alongside the products. They also have to have expiry dates and batch codes on them - this is very important as you have to keep detailed records of goods you sell
I don't know how/if allthis would apply to salon based sales only.

Why not contact your local trading standards. You could ring them or pay them a visit and speak to someone- to double check this info and they can send you a few booklets with a breakdown of the info you need. The cosmetics directive is very long-winded and difficult to wade through. All this is available online. There is also new legislation regarding potential allergens in some essential oils - there are 26 so look out for that one too!.If it is what you really want to do, don't be put off - legislation is there to protect us from unscrupulous people who are, hopefully, few and far between!
